Truly excellent tonight and I don't just mean because they are League 2. Never stopped attacking, very quick on the break and such a team spirit. Honestly just great to see two teams going for it. We've had a lot of dour games in this competition. Pat on the back for the lads and fair play to the shrimpers!!
Interestingly before the weekend (not looked since) they were tipped to finish 24th. Maybe some money to be made there?
folk see an unfashionable team from a small town and presume they must be one of the worst in the league. Morecambe have been decent at that level for a good six years now
I thought first 30 mins or so they were awful, we were running them ragged but didn't finish them off. Fair play, though, their work rate and spirit was excellent and we were always going to oblige them a few chances to get into the game
Didn't they win a Lg cup tie like this away at Rotherham 5-6 after extra time, a few seasons ago ?. They are a team who you have got to watch out for when it comes to these early rounds, so Im just glad we're through.
Very relieved, I was in with the Morecambe fans and as the game went on the more confident they became, they were gutted when the 4th goal went in, we were well on top in the first half but Morecambe are a battling side and do have a great team spirit, and as has been said they do start off the season well usually before tailing off...and over the last few seasons have been better away than at home........again like us they have a few new players and I was surprised that Jimbo started with a lot of players who wernt in the starting line up on Saturday..and they do have a small squad...finally, what a morgue Oakwell was last night....terrible atmosphere
Their number 9 - Oliver gave out back line a terrible night. He pulled them all over the place, won everything in the air and bullied them.
