The only people doing the dismantling are the players. If they refuse to renew their contracts there's nothing the club can do and some money has to be recouped where necessary. Unfortunately the club isn't run on fresh air.
In general, players with 70+ additional games under their belt during the intervening years are likely to have improved by the age of 23 compared to their ability at 21. Lindsay struggled when he first arrived, I'd expect he'll have a better chance of coping next year if he stays. Nothing is certain tho.
Nope ...... the whole East Stand. That has been part of a long discussion on here. John Dennis sold players and built what we see now. Patrick Cryne held the club for 14 years, and although there were much different circumstances, nothing substantial was built during that time. But we have been over this a 1000 times.
His major downside when he played for us, is he tried too hard at times & would be sent off at least twice a season. He was a solid centre back & really only left, as we needed to sell players due to admin.
Chances are he will have improved. The question we can't realistically answer is will the improvement be sufficient for the Championship?
He won’t sign a contract. Simple as that. Cash in while you can. We’ve got bids in place for 2 if not 3 defenders already. I think supporters will be pleasantly surprised if they drop in. Nothing is a given of course.
With one year left, we won't get more. I'd like to get him re-signed, but the money he will be offered in wages is beyond us. We can't lose £3 million to have him for one more season running his contract down.
Like it's already been said harsh to judge him on his last spell in the championship when the then head coach changed the back four and team every week.
Yep, agree with that. No doubt sell ons, add ons for international appearances and the like. I have no doubt that whatever goes back into the squad will be used wisely.
Fair play, we got a bargain. What goes around comes around. Sell ons at least help smaller clubs. Liam has been magnificent last season & was one of the reasons we got over the line.
Would it be fair to judge him on the stupid free kicks he gave away last season resulting in ten yellows and a red? Or the penalty that should have been given against him against Luton in the dying seconds?
My two penneth is Lindsay is a good centre half as things stand, hence why he's attracting interest. I don't think he's just a stopper, nor mainly a footballing centre half. I think he's both in that he can head and tackle, but is also very cool on the ball - sometimes too cool and gets caught out. Difficult to compare with past players, as he's played with different partners and in different teams. Overall, I've enjoyed watching him and if he's off, he goes with my best wishes.
