Different era Dave. It will takes us fifteen years to earn what Huddersfield will for one season in the premiership.

 

I hope they spend it wisely. The lower leagues contain Wigan, Blackpool etc.

If I was a Huddersfield fan I would have confidence in the Chairman.

 

Hopefully they take a leaf out of Burnley's book.

They're in good hands with Dean Hoyle. He loves the club and won't overspend or embezzle all the money like (allegedly) like what happened at Blackpool. I suspect that in the long run they'll end up a really strong Championship side always in with a shout of promotion.....a bit like Burnley will be in the coming years.
Good luck to em both, be great if we could achieve that status too one day.....

He must be one of the worst pundits ever. The bloke couldn't even pick his nose.!

 

Big disappointment that, I was glad to see them put the Fowls out but they are going to be even more big headed now after this. Hope they come straight back down.
And they should have been deducted points for fielding weak teams at the end of the season.

Any manager should have the right to pick whichever of his professional squad he wants. Why not? He'd rotated his team all year, made six or seven changes at Christmas and nobody batted an eyelid.

It's false thinking anyway. Nobody ever thinks of it the other way round - when they had secured the playoffs, the so called 'first team' and 'better players' will, or at least some will, have switched off a bit mentally, plus they'll not have wanted to get injured or suspended, so they wouldn't have put the same intensity in, slower to the tackle, not putting a full one in. That's when folk get hurt.

By picking his usual subs/squad players, who probably had something to prove and wanted to force their way into wagners plans, he quite likely actually added back a bit of intensity which would have gone, and arguably was as likely to have strengthened rather than weakened the side.

They lost a few. So what? The other sides had stuff to play for. Donny got promoted from league two with weeks to spare, needed about three points from five games to win the league - didn't alter the side much and had relegation form for five games, ending up third. Ferguson should have picked fringe players and kids - they'd have won one of them.

Look at us even. We probably aren't as bad as our form showed Feb onwards, but we had less intensity as we were realistically safe very early and had little to play for. We had been weakened somewhat yes - but we'd also added in Matty James one of the classiest players we've had for a long time. But in a team not really looking to do a lot. The games at oakwell march onwards all seemed testimonial pace.

Good luck to Huddersfield Town. Pleased for them. As for Reading, i bet Parky is gutted.

Its hardly 'bollo*cks' when thinking about the integrity of the FL and trying to be honest towards other clubs and fans.
Id be the first to admit it happens at every club and its happening far too often now when it comes to the cups. And while the rules obviously allow it, clubs will keep on doing it and sticking the middle finger up at the rest of us when they do it.

 

Me too. They deserve it. No sour grapes from me.

 

Same budget as Rotherham though? Where's that ******** come from? A Sky commentator that didn't do his research? They were losing millions a year due to their wage bill, they have been doing since League 1 - where they paid silly money as well. They have been brilliant off the field commercially but it wasn't enough to subsidise the wage bill.

Rotherham would have to sell their ground if they had spent like that.

 

Exactly my thoughts GO. They made that claim on Channel 5 last night during the highlights show.
Find it hard to believe. I would have personally thought Rotherham, Burton Albion and the Reds budget
was below that of Huddersfield.?

 

Well done to the 4th best team in the league this season. Was hoping they'd make it ahead of Reading.

Pleased for their Chairman and his reactions at the end, well, I'd hope there aren't too many fans who would begrudge him success just because of the glut of emotions he went through.

Great outcome and I'm pleased for them. It has to be good to have at least one Yorkshire club in the Premier League - be better if there were more. They've played the loan market very well, but the four German lads were key players for me. Presumably they were a bonus of Wagner's connections. I think that Aaron Moy has been one of the Championship players of the season - easily as influential as Shelvey has been for Newcastle. It would be interesting to know their wage bill? Presumably with Liverpool, Man City and Chelsea (2) loanees on their books it will have been a tidy sum? And worth bearing in mind that Dean Hoyle is reportedly worth 10 times more than Patrick Cryne in net wealth. (But you have to admire his local connection and his commitment.) Beyond that, would there be that much difference in our two clubs' philosophy/outlook?

 

It said on R5L yesterday that they had the 4th lowest budget in the championship. Tony Stewart of Rotherham eluded to this earlier in the season saying their budget was similar to Huddersfield's . I cant see the loanees being on massive wages . They were brave in January and gambled on this outcome . Could have gone both ways I suppose but it's paid off . Good luck to them .

Hudders had a £11.8 million wage bill on their last accounts. No way was Rotherham's near that, Huddersfield wouldn't have slashed that bill in half for this season. Tony Stewarts been telling Rotherham fans porkies all year.
