It was a bit of light hearted singing from us fans who've probably travelled a couple of thousand miles watching the utter drivel him and his team have served up this season . A bit of gallows humour . I know he didn't actually say it hurts and he said it affected the team but I dont believe him , I think he wants it stopped being sung because it's embarrassing to him more like. He should think himself lucky That's all that has been sung to him, many other managers would have been slated and there would have been chants for him sacked. He needs to concentrate on the players and performances rather than moaning about us fans singing one song for a laugh , fans who have been solid and consistent throughout this dire football he's been producing.
That's not what's happening though is it? He's been asked a question by an interviewer and responded. He's not set aside three hours this week to analyse song chants from the players. In no way has he taken his concentration away from performances. This thread is ridiculous.
True. They would have probably been better saying they hadn't heard the songs. In a perfect world they could be open and honest and say exactly what they did, but we don't live in one.
TBH I think its just really hurt LJ's feelings and his massive ego that we dare say we're **** after he promised us 'the type of football we've never seen at Barnsley'. TBF he was absolutely correct. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
5 page thread about a couple of throw away comments. You can tell there's been less to moan about recently when this is getting the attention it doesn't deserve. Obviously the songs don't help, I don't see how anyone can argue against that. And that's all that's been said, nothing more.
Of course there's less to moan about. We won last week, hence there's less to moan about than the week before. You take it away and have a good old moan though. Really is staggering some peoples mindset.
Not really summat I've ever asked him, but he did once say that when he's playing, he's that focused on the game that he can't hear owt, reckons it's like being underwater or summat. And then when play stops for subs or whatever, he gets his hearing back. I don't think he means he actually goes deaf though.
If that's the case no point chanting anything during a football match as the players can't hear it to be motivated by it anyway
Isn't one component the fans telling another component the manager and the players that losing all the time isn't all that helpful. It's just a feedback loop. I'm presuming as Whitey says later footballers are so focused that they don't hear individual components if they are listening rather playing maybe that's an issue to be addressed and may explain performances but I'm presuming Mawson was told later about the chants. Certainly the players I know well ex players now said they had literally no idea what the fans were singing as they were playing. Though they were better than our current lot who maybe do spend the match listening for abusive comments then work shopping their feelings at half time. Just because you can't see a relationship between people being sensitive to criticism and the Molly coddled life that the modern footballer leads doesn't mean it doesn't exist. It doesn't mean it does it's just opinions isn't it? Like I say not summat that over exercises me overmuch. Though if the song is rolled out in about 20 minutes I may break the habits of a lifetime and join in. Given we are bottom of the table I'd just think our manager and Captain would have better things to think about than this.
So they shouldn't ever give interviews in case someone asks them about something they shouldn't be thinking about?
I would just have said no comment. Or that the chants have inspired me and the team to give the people who travel all over the country to give them a team to be proud of. (I.e we will ram it down their throats by moving up the table).
