I'd have thought the chants might actually inspire the team to play well to ram it down people's throats certainly if I were manager I would use it as an inspiration. What was said seems infantile and childish to me. Is that addressed enough? Playing ok against a very poor Colchester team so maybe the reverse psychology worked and the people singing the songs should take credit...
Nope a tactic used by loads of managers to inspire the troops. Clough used variations a lot. I was tongue in cheek though. Should I have emoji'd. I don't emoji.
Lee Johnson: "I would like the fans to stop the ironic chants because I don't think they help. I understand they are having a bit of banter with the opposition but I think, with the efforts the players are putting in, I would rather they sang the name of one of our players or made up a new song." Alfie Mawson: "We're not buzzing about some of the songs but at least the fans are being noisy. I have learned how much football means to these fans and I can't blame them for being angry or annoyed at where we are in the table." Your definition of infantile and childish is a hell of a lot different to mine because I don't see anything remotely resembling that from either of those two. I don't believe a sensible person like you does either, but you've entrenched yourself within an argument and come out with something that later, I don't think you'll be comfortable with. But it's all about opinions. If, in a week, you still think what they have said is childish and infantile then tell me and I'll believe you, but at the moment, I don't.
The funny thing is, as mentioned above, we didn't sing the chants before we were crap, that's a given, so therefore the songs can't be blamed on our bad run. We then played crap and started to sing ironic songs. Since the ironic songs have been sung, we have been steadily improving. Perhaps they do help after all... or more than likely they make no difference.
These emoji things seem to temper my assessment of Whitey when he posts stuff that seems to confirm he's a ******. He emojis and I think "oh well" Perhaps you should try it.
Different sport but Root's mentioned that he doesn't hear the crowd when hes batting because hes concentrating that much. Only hears them when he or the other batsman gets to a milestone or maybe out or drinks.
I certainly don't think they are in any way to blame for our poor form this season. I think the support we've had is nothing short of astonishing considering how bad we've been for so long. I don't, personally, have a big problem with the song in question. However, if the captain and the manager say they don't believe the songs help, then fair enough, no big deal, we'll sing summat else. I do believe support from the crowd can inspire the team to a certain extent. I think it's one of the reasons why teams win more games at home than away. That might not be true, I don't know, but it's a possibility. With that in mind I think we should do the best we can for the team. We're on the same side. We've concede 2 goals and nearly a third while I wrote that. 'kin 'ell
There we go - proof! (winking emoji) All I could hear were positive songs directly before their goals.
Told you before. Only on Shrove Tuesday, and when I was single, a lot, every night, sometimes with my left hand.
Pretty much everything I write on here is tongue in cheek but you'll have to provide your own emoji I just can't bring myself to do it.
To be fair the 7 pre match pints provably don't aid my cause ( I'm thinking sone sort of drinking beer emoji here).
Then please forgive me. i would have thought that the last thing for anyone perpetually posting tongue in cheek would be to admit it. And for such a jester, it does seem strange how personal you have taken many an exchange. I still think emojis might help.
