Why was everyone talking like they were doing Hamlet?

Turned it off after 15 minutes because of the stupid language. Why do arty-farty types think that talking in an almost incomprehensible way is a good thing?

If you did that, and didn't go back to it, you missed a treat. I've just watched it and I thought it was brilliant.

Yes it was done in a theatrical way, but it is based on a stage play and they obviously wanted to stay true to that. You could argue that it was almost Shakespearean in delivery, but there is nothing wrong with that. The language wasn't as rich as that, but it was pretty good.

The story was uncannily true to life and what we saw in this film could well happen when the Queen dies. Charles will become King and will not be popular. He'll be forced to stand aside for his son William.

At the end of the day it's just a BBC drama, but it could prove to be a very prophetic one. It was superbly acted and was given added poignancy as it was Tim Pigott-Smith's last role before his recent death.

So you're not a fan of iambic pentameter?

just watched and it shows how inconsequential the royal family is just there to do what the government of the day wants. Having said that i'm surprised there have been no complaints from the Royals about the portrayal of Kate as a power hungry bitch, unless its true of course.
