I have recently started watching grass roots football and the standard is actually pretty good, I have thoroughly enjoyed the entire occasion, even the Portaloo and the tea wagon!
That's great to read. I played a lot of football in the old Yorkshire League and a few games at a slightly higher level, but my happiest ever time in football was spent playing for my local Working Men's Club. We trained three nights a week, we marked out the pitch, put the nets up and washed our own strips after each game. The enthusiasm within the Club was infectious. A group of local lads all pulling together. We won every division we played in and also won the Doncaster Sunday League Premier Division title three times and the Sunday League Challenge Cup twice, plus the Goole and Thorne County FA Cup. Truly very happy carefree days.
