Thought it would be interesting for anyone to watch after some of us questioned us having a plan B tactic.
Isn’t plan b simply hoof ball? A tactic historically successfully implemented by such as stoke, Sheffield Utd and Watford and historically unsuccessfully implemented by such as Sheffield wed, Bradford and Luton. If that’s what people want to watch then to each their own, I’d rather roast my genetalia over an open fire
I wasn’t going to say it but the last 15 minutes on Saturday reminded me of Spackman era , 2-0 down with 10 to go and we were pissing about passing the ball in our last third inviting Wednesday to take it off us . There would have been no harm done to take a risk and put one of the Centre Backs up front and launch a few up to them particularly in extra time
Daughter was watching it with me and kept saying why are we playing like were winning. Get it forward. We’ll concede goals decking about like that all the time. I’m all for playing football but sometimes the keeper needs to just welly it
I've been trying to remember which team and centre half it was that used to always leave him up for a few minutes after a corner , the ball would be cleared by the opposition but the Centre half instead of getting back would stay up for the return ball to be pumped back in , it didn't always work but they got a fair few goals over the season by doing it
Plan B isn’t only implemented when a team is losing . Many teams when scoring a goal will change tactics to protect their advantage. So teams that are chasing the game have to change tactics to break down a defensive formation as opposed to the one deployed at beginning of game . I would say plan B,C,D are regularly employed by most teams during games. Similarly if players received yellow or red cards are injured etc etc .
