See Marine, our cup conquerers back in the 70s, have won on pens at Colchester this afternoon. I didn’t even know they still existed.

Noticed earlier where BBSers were saying Altrincham was there worst day. They obviously didn't go to Marine. I did, now that was humiliating.

There are some very old people on this site.

No wonder there’s so much posted about Joe Biden. Probably went to school with him.

They had a goalie called Grenville Millington. ( brother of Tony— WBA) was outstanding all three games. Went on to play for Chester and was allus a thorn in our side.

We lost 2-0 @ Old Trafford (2nd Replay) after a 1-1 Draw @ Oakwell (Replay) and a 0-0 draw at Rhyl

    Thanks T67

Proper **** missen at Rhyl. 5 on us in car. Me 13 yrs owd. and Cousin 15. Stood outside their social club. 3 older travellers inside having a light refreshment. Us 2 getting some reight looks. Believe it or not having tomatoes thrown at us from the terrace overlooking the social club. ( much more civil in those days :))

Was stood on their end opposite reds fans. To this day don’t know why, apart from fans weren’t separated till later yrs. Got daggers all the game. god knows what would have happened to us if we’d scored. I was Probably relieved we didn’t.

    Great story HF :)

I remember when I was a kid my dad took us to Hillsboro and Bramall Lane and stand/sit in the home end cos it was 50p cheaper or summat. Never got any bother though even when we scored. We were however in the away end (sat right at the top) when Glavin scored the brilliant winner at Hillsboro to win the game 1-0.

Me n your dad from the same cloth.
Been in opponents ends several times cos of cost. ( 50p was 50p in those days)
Oldham once. No concessions £4 each.
Went round to their end £3 adult £2 child.
( prices too difficult to recall so as best)
Copper. “ You can’t come in here” we were wearing red and white scarves.
    Me “Why not”
    C- “it’s home end”
M- “ so what ? It’s cheaper in here I’m not paying £8 when it’ll only cost me £5 in here”
    C- “ You can’t come in “
    M-“ who sez”
    C- “erm”
Oldham fan “ lerrim in. If ar wor at their place ad dut same”
    M- “Cheers fo that pal”
C- “Go on then, but take your colours off”
    M- “ thanks sir “
Went in. walked up to the perimeter wall. Pulled a different copper walking round the side.
M- “ are we int wrong end here.” ( having put scarves back on)
    C2 - “er, yes”
M- “ av dropped a reight bolok then. Can we go in ar end. Could be uncomfortable “
C2- “ come on then follow me”
    :):):)

Did same at Hull, they allowed us to go in, eventually. (me giving coppers a load of grief. pleading how much I would save. Being a poor soul from tarn and it being Xmas) . But got a steward to take us round to our fans as soon as we got through the turnstiles.

Bear in mind these incidents only occurred cos some turnstile operators wouldn’t let me lift mi young un ovver, Which tbf lifting Im ovver happened a lot more often than I care to remember.

As I say 50p was 50p in those days. Probably cost of a couple of pints. :)
