Better chance of international football like Conor who had to leave to get played, lots of uncertainty at the club, sold players in January when we could have done something and so few around from squad that got us promoted.

Impossible to argue with that as a summary to be fair.

I remember when we signed marley from i.c.t he sent out a similar message to their supporters but that one went along the lines of..... I love the club ect ect I had offers from other spl teams but wouldn't feel right going to another spl team ect ect. Don't belive everything you hear this reasons are good reasons but I think MONEY could be just as big or a even bigger factor. I wasn't too sure when he said he had offers from the premiership marley watkins is a good championship player but let's face it if a premiership team wanted him and made a 7 figure bid he would of been sold.

Although a lot of people say he's not ' premiership standard'. He could certainly make the squad of the likes of Burnley, Swansea, Watford, Bournemouth, West Bromwich etc .

I would wager that money is his motivating factor. Having said that as others have commented in other threads it's a short career so at the end of the day can he be blamed.? Same reason for Josh Scowen as well.
No doubt in my mind they hold Barnsley FC in the very highest esteem but unfortunately money talks.

I don't begrudge players leaving to better thiemselfs financially who wouldn't no doubt marley is very fond of bfc but he isn't a supporter he likes Swansea city he hasnt no affliction to bfc. People need to realise this is the main factor in him going and conor, winnall,Scowen and most others. And it's not lack of ambition on our part fact is we get 13k gates we have no billionaire owner and can't compete with 90% of teams in this league with wages.

I suppose when you've given your all, got to seventh in the table only to see two of your best teammates sold, you feel like pissing in the wind.

But if you are this best performers do you stay at barnsley for 4/5k a week or go earn 18k and 29k a week instead?? That's what we are up against. Hourhine has earned around 400k more than he would have done staying at oakwell that would test anyone's loyalty when your agent gives you a sniff of that, wouldn't it?

The tone of Watkins's interview implied - and I stress implied- that more could have been done.

The club could have said no to Villa, like they did to whoever came in for Watkins.

So in your eyes watkins leaving has nothing to do with money and all because he is still pissed off with the club?

Also Bree and they screwed up signing Morsy. We lost in a matter of weeks a third of the team that had done so well for us. This was bound to be depressing to ambitious guys wanting to reach the highest level that it made it look like we were happy simply staying up.

No. It's to do with money AND career ambition. The club's ambitions do not match his.

He wanted out no more no less. Hence him putting in a transfer request. Clearly someone tapped him up and gave him a taste of what was on offer. Sadly they probably just didn't offer us enough money for us to take it / considering we had a threadbare squad in Jan etc.

T'was interesting that Hecky said... It was not Linton"s fault... He was only doing as he was told...
Only one man as the say at Oakwell.... Maybe one of the reasons that it's hard to get a new.... decent CEO
