I left with 3 minutes to go purely because I didn’t want to pay for damages to my sons seat. He was shaking that much I thought all the nuts and bolts were coming loose.
During injury time - couldn't stand anymore and regretted not being there at the final whistle but I was starting to look up frostbite symptoms
Stayed and tried to clap at the end. I had to watch my hands to make sure they were connecting with each other at the end of each swing. They made no sound and I couldn't feel them. I did spend the last 10 minutes huddled up with my 15 year old daughter trying to keep her warm. We laughed, gallows style, for much of it.
Final whistle. I tried to hold a conversation with my mate sat at the side of me. Unfortunately, our chattering teeth made that impossible. Oh aye and that mate was you.
I was one of the last out. We always wait for everyone to leave before we make a move. Do we get a prize?
Final whistle, then went to the gents to warm my hands under the dryer to make sure I still had fingers, then I asked for some cardboard from a bloke cleaning the pumps behind the bar to try and get out of the riding school field. Didn’t work. Full on frost bite nearly set in. Very rarely leave early, although we did walk off when Fulham scored their third the other month, frustration rather than disgust as they’d not been that bad. As the stands emptied over the last 15-20 minutes yesterday and the bitter wind blew snow in my face, temperatures below freezing with the windchill making it feel -8 or -9, I never considered leaving early once. Mainly possibly as I wanted to give the most time possible for the field at the riding school to freeze solid so I’d get traction. Ironically whilst that didn’t happen, half of our squad look like they’re in traction.
