On the official site that the match day prices for the next four range from Cat A to Cat D.

£38 is creeping ever nearer to Leeds/Wednesday pricing territory. I can't see many casual fans turning up at that price. Makes having a season ticket an absolute bargain, in comparison.

I know it says something about reciprocal pricing blah blah but why can't we charge away fans that amount while making it much cheaper for home fans?

Still not sure how making Barnsley fans pay over the odds squares up what happens at other clubs.

I think the home team has to offer prices to away fans equivalent to its cheapest seat or something ?

Boro is £30 advance, £32 on the day. A* games will be £36/£38

£30 still too much. I'm out at those prices. They're killing the game. I just hope 'Imaginative Ticket Pricing' is high on the agenda for the new owners.

Actually they have to offer prices equivalent to home fans in a similar area so the same as we charge in the Ponty but as all our pricing is the same its irrelevant.

If only there was some way of offering a flexi 5 game ticket that costs say £100 to get round that ....

I presume this flexi-ticket business is being held back for the time being, or maybe they won't do it at all. It's not relevant to me but I do recognise the attraction it holds for many fans who can't afford a season ticket, or can't justify getting one because they can't see many matches.

It's blindingly obvious though that this modern day highway robbery attitude of the football industry cannot flourish in places like Barnsley. The income is just not there, and neither is the will to pay these extortionate prices. Surely those that run the club, and the future owners, can see that. If they can't the only way is down...

It really is time for this madness to end. If you have a young family a couple of kids who may or may not be currently that interested but who could become future long term committed fans it's out of reach to try it a few times. My dad took me when I was young and over the years I've spent thousands at Oakwell. He wouldn't be able to afford to do it now.

If you are on living wage that's what about 17.5 percent of your wage on 1 ticket. Pure insanity. If we carry on down this path we will price ourselves out of existence with a dwindling and ageing fan base. And we will deserve it.

    20 is plenty.

Agree, I'm in fortunate position of having a season ticket so got young'un one as well for nowt/£15 whatever it was so she can go when she wants/we aren't playing Leeds etc. Some aren't and it looks like we're trying to eradicate the days of getting up on a Saturday and fancying a match, and taking young'uns just to see without having to commit.

The flexi-ticket was launched on 6 October last season, so I'm hoping there is still going to be one. It should be a ticketing option from the start of the season though.

Middlesbrough fans don't set ticket prices. It should be the same price everywhere in the ground for everyone. After all it's the same match we're watching. £38 for a football match is extortion and it's about time something was done as it's beyond a joke.

    It's not £38. Still too much at £30/£32, but it's not £38

Season tickets with the kids free are great value. I've had one for last 4 years but didn't bother for various reasons. It's too big a commitment for the casual bloke who might bring his kids if it were reasonable.

If we carry on like this on match day pricing we deserve all we get.

£38 pound is for catagory A* games on the day. But its a bit of a nothing really as all cat A* games are ticket only usually, unless it means tickets that are bought on match day from the ticket office before noon?

According to this you are right but I think they might have changed it since it originally went up earlier this morning

Apologies. Only read the OP. But the point still stands for £32.

I thought the Football League allowed clubs a certain number of Promotions for home fans during the season.

This reciprocal pricing is a nasty smokescreen to make it look like they are doing us a favour when the opposite is true.

Hey, opposition club, if you are ripping the fans off when we play you then we will as well, fair enough. Yeah, sounds good. Lets do it.

Its madness and it has to stop. £32 for a standard league game at Barnsley. Jesus, I am still only in my 40s and I remember when season tickets were £18.

Like others have said, we are killing the chance to lure the next generation and it will kill the game.
