Meadowhall changes due to terrorism

    Meadowhall has permanently removed all its bins from both inside and outside of the centre due to terrorism risks. The only bins that remain are small ones in the toilets and food bins in the oasis.

    Apparently it is a nationwide move which has seen bins removed from all large retail and leisure centres.

    Not sure how I feel about that to be honest.

    Cheers ST. I will use that as my excuse next time my missus tries to drag me to Meadowhell.
    I use a lot of tissues this weather due to hay fever. I can now say I'm not going cos there's no
    bins to put any used tissues in. I'll hide our dogs Poo bags just in case cos she'll find a way round it.

    Talking to someone who recently finished working on the tube - and he was telling me about one of his duties having to check around.
    But like I said to him - when was the last time a terrorist left a bomb on a station or in a bin?

    It's about removing an easy opportunity. As another poster has said this has been the case in train stations for years.

    The country as a whole is at risk of being caught up in a terrorist incident regardless of who or what.

    Meadowhall has been, on more than one occasion in the last couple of years been flagged as a high risk target for a potential terror attack.

    This is not the oh **** Londons been attacked we better keep our eyes peeled but concerns within the authorities that Meadowhall has been singled out for an attack.

    So removing the bins... Pointless but it's a public relations exercise more than anything.

    Can remember similar actions after the IRA bomb in Warrington.
    Went to watch a Man Utd game with a mate of mine who was a s/ t holder there and the bins were removed for that reason.

    Leaving bombs on bins is a bit old school now.

    I don't really see the point in removing bins when idiots are prepared to walk into a crowded area and blow themselves to bits along with everyone else.

    A bomb In a bin will probably do less damage than a bomb on legs with eyes that can pin point exactly where is want to be
