I can remember thinking how glamorous the footballs were for the 1970 World Cup, yet now they look archaic!
A kid on our street got one. We were all trying to swerve the ball like Pele, Rivellino & Jairzinho did!
Mates dad handed them down a few leather caseys when we were kids. They were great in summer but very heavy when wet. You were very popular if you had your own football back then
The first "casie" I ever had looked a lot like the 1954 Switzerland one. it was a lace-up one and was a right bugger to do, it always ended up with a bulge where the lace was. For a while I was everybody's best mate on our street.....
The first world cup I really remember was the 1978 tournament and Mario certainly made some memories.
Out of curiosity did the slazenger factory in town make the 1966 world cup football? I know they made tennis balls for Wimbledon.
Always been a Mitre man, loved these when I first got into football. We used the Mitre Max in our 1980/81 promotion season I think, and didn't Rotherham use the red and white ball? The Tango Espana ball always reminds me of that Zico free kick v Scotland.
Rotherham did yeh... swfc used multiplex bfc max The red stripe one >> http://twohundredpercent.net/a-load-of-old-balls-and-one-recent-one/
