Lost mi Dad this afternoon, the bloke who got me into BFC. 1972 I think, took mi to mi first Reds match Halifax at om 2-2 & then took to me every so often as he used to work almost every Saturdays, later on in life He took us all over the country in his red ford transit works van from Plymouth to Newcastle, also London neet matches. Thank you Dad for sending me on the the greatest path you could have sent me(outside of family life) am raising a glass or two to you XXX

Sincere condolences mate, best to wishes to you and all those who are close to your Dad. Until recent weeks, I thought my Dad was immortal. He's now fighting the big "C", and we're in limbo as to how it goes. Your comments echo strongly with me, wonderful memories. I've just raised a glass of Cypriot Rosè to your Dad on my holiday.

Very sorry to hear that mate. Credit to your Dad for getting you hooked on Barnsley in the early 70s when most of his era were going up the road to watch the then mighty Leeds.
    Enjoy your drink(s).

Sincere condolences thetykester. The loss of a parent is a difficult and very thought-provoking time. I still have mi Dad around, although he has a number of issues at 81. A friend of mine gave the wisest advice - enjoy him while you can. Be glad of the time you had, and what he gave you - take care mate.

That's fathers for you. Take you to Oakwell in the early 70s, especially the evening matches when you sit on a red cushion in the Woodbine smelling stands and find yourself bedazzled by a pitch of electric light green.

    Lifetime of unfathomable addiction follows.

They have a lot to answer for - these fathers.

    Thanks to yours and mine.

Sorry to hear your sad news
Your story reminds me of my own dad who used to drive me and a couple of my mates all over the country in the 70s and early 80s to watch the Reds ( despite being a scouser!)
