    Nice fella.
    Good luck in the future.
Probably chased out of his party by undercurrents like Momentum

Suspect he'll stand again in the future should the party ever take a right turn.

    Don't talk wet.

He's big enough and ugly enough to stand up for himself.

He's run away from the fight. So much for all the stock he put in being from Edlington.

    Toodle pip.

Thank **** the odius toad has seen the writing on the wall & he a will no longer trouble our town..

Trouble is his motivation to step down is more likely to be out of self interest - I bet he believes whether Labour win or not he faces 10 more years on the back benches - plus he can make more money in business writing books & being on have I got news for you, than in public service

Imagine that from a "cough" socialist.

Lets hope Jarvis does the honourable thing as well - although I suspect Jarvis will be thinking he can stand for party leader fairly shortly.

Lets hope we get a return to the great MP's we have had representing Barnsley rather than the somewhat dubious and downright criminal ones we've had recently.

Great Mp's like Illsley? What has Jarvis done that warrants him to stand down ...

Jarvis is a very intelligent, likeable (by all accounts) good guy .... but his politics aren't as far to the left as many people would hope.

He hasn't exactly supported the party leader has he?

You might not like Corbyn, but he has been overwhelmingly elected twice. To still keep sniping away after that shows a lack of respect for the leader and the people who elected him as leader.

First and foremost Jarvis is Barnsley central mp- difficult job taking over from illsley after the scandal- I believe he has done a good job and sticks up for the town. Heard nothing bit good things about him. I agree he does need to put his feelings about Jeremy to one side but he's a good mp and I think he in the future he'll be a good leader

Nothing that you have said is untrue - apart from the bit about a labour MP taking over after Isley having a difficult job in Barnsley - it's not like there's any real alternative...

HOWEVER - my beef is not whether he is a good MP. Nor is it that he is a good leader. It is that fact that his principles are not the socialist principles of labour. He is not a Labour MP. There is a wholesale deception of the nation by these Blairite neo liberals.

If Jarvis and Dugher and their ilk had any kind of integrity they would set up a new party or more appropriately join the liberal democrats like Owen, Rodgers, Williams, etc did before and fight for their beliefs in an open honest way - instead of in political camoflage

But they know this change would not work in the UK. It didn't work in the 80's and it won't work now. Certainly they wouldn't get elected in nice safe seats like Barnsley - almost every liberal seat is a marginal seat - and that wouldn't do for a career politician would it.

If the whole system was more honest and they stood for - and were elected - representing a party which actually represented their values I would have some respect for them - and with Jarvis I would not doubt hold him in the very highest regard.

But they dont' - they are con men - as big a fraudsters as Isley. So everything they do and represent is underscored by this fundamental lie. In my view a Tory who wants to privatise the NHS has more integrity. As much as I might think their motives are plain wrong at least they are sticking to their principles.
