Former Giro winner killed after a collision with a minibus while training near Ancona. Only 37. No doping comments necessary.
He was suspended temporarily for testing with Dr Ferrari before his was found to be supplying drugs, but Scarponi never actually failed a drugs test.
You'd be surprised how common it is. In my classes I often had 3 or 4 kids who had lost a parent, plus another 4 or 5 who were not living with either parent for various reasons.
He was a blatant doper. Was at Liberty Seguros where virtually the whole squad was at it & his blood was found in Fuentes' fridge. Anyway, it shouldn't matter. Just because someone's a drugs cheat doesn't make them a bad person. If you can't keep up clean & everyone else is at it (as most were 10 years ago) then what else do you do if it's all you've ever known? RIP to him
Yep, tragic. There aren't many top class sports where you actually risk life either doing the sport itself or training.
Every winter sport just about. Motor racing (all forms) High jump Gymnastics Any involving horses Sailing Football
Google most dangerous sports. They are above cycling on most of the lists ive just checked. http://www.therichest.com/rich-list/most-shocking/10-sports-more-dangerous-than-mma/ That's not quite up to date but even looking at more up to date figures for cycling it is still no where near what the others were then
