I thought the game was crying out for him tonight, especially after his impact on Saturday. Makes you wonder a) what exactly went on behind the scenes when he departed on loan and b) how he performs in training.

Something definitely wrong. Moncur has impressed me the three games I've seen him play in (never saw the Northampton League Cup game). Can see him being shipped out in the summer as he clearly doesn't get on with Heckingbottom.

Agree. He looks far better than Mowett from his little cameos. Deserves a chance.

I thought he impacted the game, on Saturday, a lot more than Mowatt did. I can only think that the club see more potential in Mowatt, and are going to persist with him for the remainder of the season.

Think it's more the fact we see Mowett getting a run of games, despite his stupidity on debut and lack of any impact. And Moncur has looked a bit better from his games played. If he is moving on in the summer that would probably explain it.

He'll never get in while Calamity Scowen's in there.

What has happened to Williams also?

I can see he's trying to give Mowatt game time to get up to speed.

Can only assume Moncur isn't in Hecky's plans, if he can offload him in the summer, otherwise
why sign Mowatt? Thought Williams was looking good though when he came back. Maybe he's being saved for next season?

    In Hecky we trust.

Mowatt definitely needs a run of games though I don't see the point in playing him as deep as he was on Saturday or in the first half last night. At times he was so close to Matty James that they kept running into each other.

The side would look far more balanced with one of either Mowatt or James plus Moncur. Having said that we seemed to completely lose our shape when Mowatt went off last night. It's almost as if we were using two players in James and Mowatt to do the job that Hourihane used to do on his own.

Talking of Hourihane who we are clearly missing, I'm of the opinion that we won't miss Scowen any less when he leaves. Fantastic player. The derogatory comment about him in this thread doesn't warrant any sort of response, as it's so far from reality as to be in some sort of parallel universe where Clive Baker is 6ft 7", Dave Regis scores 25 goals a season, and Hemsworth Tyke wins the Nobel Prize for football journalism.

I can only assume Mowatt is in the team because he's the only left footed player we have at the club (who's fit)...and he's known for set peices...not that he delivered a decent one last night. I think he will be a good player for us next season once he's had a full pre-season under Hecky.

Not sure Williams will make the cut to be honest. no point keeping him, Moncur and Mowatt when a maximum of one of them can play at once. Think we should probably cut our loses on him and let him leave....3 or 4 starts in two years is not good.

Yes, Scowen will be sadly missed. Hope we may be able to tempt him with a one year contract if some big money offer doesn't come in, but I'm probably dreaming.

The remainder of the season is all about getting the players we own up to speed.

I have no problem with Mowatt starting every game between now and the end of the season. I'd also like to see Moncur given a bit more game time. They both have plenty of talent and potential and if we could get them both fit and playing together effectively in a midfield two we could be in good shape for next season.

I can't see a midfield two, consisting of Moncur and Mowatt, being something that works in this division. I'd much rather see them both getting some minutes though, along with the likes of Hedges, as opposed to Armstrong and Kent.

Seems odd how badly Moncur is treated when he's been playing better than Mowatt who still gets in. Very unlucky at the weekend to not score the derby day winner, due to a very good save.

He was the second coming when we signed him.
