I live in London and of the London clubs apart from Palace I have seen Barnsley at QPR more than any other London club. I have always looked forward to seeing us win there before I pop my clogs. But now as I grow older I worry about what will happen if we actually do ever win there. What if we win this season - will I lose my will to live - is it just this ambition which is keeping me going? There is one of the London Tykes who saw us beat QPR in 1950. He finds it hard to get to games these days but hopefully he can enjoy a second win there this season. The last time we were at Loftus Road we stupidly got "Gold" tickets. It was a wet day and we expected that as we had paid top price we would at least be in the dry. But no there was a hole in the roof above us through which the rain came. I wrote to complain to them but received no reply. Buy silver if you're coming. Another thing about this ground. On occasion the stewarding there is quite over the top. COYR
I think we'll win this time. Every time we've played there (in my lifetime) they've been either at the top of the division or have spent massively. This season they've done neither, and we've a great away record.
I think we could get a draw next week. We're struggling a bit for goals but defensively ok. Would take a draw Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
The first time I went to watch us at Loftus Road was December 1981. The country was in the grip of some really bad weather, but because of their terrible artificial pitch our game was guaranteed to be played. We lost 1-0 to a late Mike Flanagan header (thanks to the poor playing service) and it took me three days to thaw out afterwards!
Been to three games there. League and cup defeats during our promotion season, 3-1 and 3-2 defeats, Trevor Sinclair's goal and Steve Davis' broken leg, and 4-0 thumping under Robins. Might have been the only game I saw Jeronimo play in?
Only been once When we were beaten by the plastic pitch. 81/82 season, the match was on MOTD because the rest of the fixture list was wiped out by the weather, this game only being played because of the afore mentioned pitch. The goal coming from a downward header which Bobby Horn had completely covered except that the extravagant bounce took it over him and into the roof of the net. Otherwise it was a very even game of few chances and lots of comical sliding about in the areas that the sun didn't get to....
