Reason why I’m asking is because there were a debate the other day on Facebook.. One or two said Marcus Rashford, I think they are wrong.. even though I hate Manchester United
Paul Pogba - He looks decent with Kante next to him for France, but nowhere near the player he should be for the price tag!
That's what I was just about to say too. For the price I'm not sure what it is he does. Just looks like a decent midfielder
Does this say something that 3 player's are mentioned and they are all from Manchester United. Probably means Manchester United are overrated!
Pogba. You could make a compilation of him losing possession and then doing a little skip rather than working to recover
Messi. Great football player but he's spoken about like he's a football God. He's only done it for one team, in one country. The guys supplying him chances over the years against teams like Levante could get BBS posters into double figures of goals in a season and he's never done much for his country either. That he was voted 5th best in the world this week, maybe people are seeing it now when compared to Modric with three champions leagues in a row and taking a underdog country of ageing players to a world cup final.
I’d agree about Pogba. Two that always got me were Adriano & Kaka. Had fabulous ability but never did enough to get the kind of hype they did & weren’t consistent enough.
One of the top players of all time for me absolute genius. As for the one country stuff I just see that as English arrogance that he's never come to our league. Why would he? Each to their own I guess.
I have honestly never encountered anyone who is as consistently wrong about everything as you are. https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/lionel-messi-is-impossible/ Read this then come back and say that Messi is overrated.
Totally disagree. He's been the highest paid player at the best team in the world in a beautiful country where they speak his language so why would he change clubs? Argentina have been crap for years so there's little he could do about that. I'd put George Best in the same category. He's had a poor season by his standards this season but he demolished Spurs and he's 31 now. You've avoided 100s of websites praising him to find one that doesn't. 45 goals last season and take a look at his goalscoring record and videos of his goals. How can he be overrated? He's probably the greatest footballer I've ever seen. You're in a minority with that one but each to their own
I love this place for the differing opinion. Even the truly ludicrous. But I’m truly baffled that people, assuming they have watched Messi more than a handful of times, can claim him to be overrated. I’ve never known genius like it. And I loved watching Gazza, Maradona, Waddle, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo (1 and 2), Iniesta, Scholes, Paddy McCourt . But Messi. Wow. There is something that makes watching him like watching a player on a whole different planet. The goals he scores, creates. I don’t like him much. But I can’t help but just watch him play with complete awe and wonder. He’s what still makes football the beautiful game for me. Without talent like his, and (begrudgingly) Ronaldo 2, Modric and a smattering I’d others, we are in a time when football is at its most commercial, dull and over rated. Messi for me is perhaps the last of a dying breed. Who knows though... I have high hopes for Callum Styles. The Barnsley Messi. I suppose that’s what makes football so interesting. I’m sure some would have thought Di Stefano, Pele, Best and Cruyff were overated too. You can’t say someone’s opinion is wrong. But sometimes you do have to accept that they are so far apart from your own that it’s almost a different sport they are watching.
You don’t leave Barcelona or Real Madrid unless it’s for financial reasons or you aren’t good enough. Why would he ever consider leaving Barca? Living his childhood dream with lads he came through the academy with in a warm climate & a much more relaxed way of life. Leave that to come play at Man City or PSG or somewhere like that, what’s the point?
Adam Hammill. On this board anyway. But seriously, I may go for Gareth Bale. And for those suggesting scholes and messi, i would say they are underrated if anything.
Adriano definitely demonstrated the ability but only over a short period. He was unplayable in his prime at Inter in terms of strength and power but fell into bad habits and pissed it all away
Messi is the greatest footballer ever. Your eyes are literally - literally - painted on if you think he's overrated. I literally mean that.
