You would leave out Hamill ( for Izzy if fit) even though he was apparrently our best player yesterday

Isgrove when fit is our best winger. You would play one of Williams or Gardner though.

Need Gardner or Williams in the middle.

Id agree but like Jimmy said, Gardner or Williams would need to be in ideally for one of 2 cm's. Knasmullner will like to go forward like Mallan. Although I think when ive seen Mallan, he isnt always flying forward. Think he is developing a bit of a box to box role, just needs to work a bit more on defensive work rate and he could be a scowen sort of player (minus the tough tackling)..

As said needs Williams or Gardner. Otherwise it's probably the team I would go for.

Surprised at Mallan over Gardner there

I choose mallan as I think he will improve game on game, and he may turn into the player we need in the middle.

We simply MUST abandon this negative tactic of playing both Williams and Gardner. It has to be one or the other from now on with a Hourihane-type player alongside ( Mallan or Knasmullner might be the answer to that problem). Couple those two with a pair of PROPER wingers (ie not Moncur) with McB and KM up front then we might just start pressing teams like we have done before. Make them back pedal, get an early goal or two. Don't worry about conceding. 4-3 wins for the rest of the season will suit me :)

    Mahoney Gardener Mallan Hammill

    Knasmullner

    McBurnie

We've signed these players to help keep us up so after a week on the training ground check them in and see what happens we have to stop the rot. Saturday is make or break we need 3 points.

    Sub options depending on game goes;

Knasmuller; If formation is suiting playing someone behind McBurnie & Kans is off pace swap for Moncur good with 2 feet his best position is centrally. If formation isn't working bring on Moore/Bradshaw and go 442.

Isgrove; Back from injury would love to see him get half hour to stretch them.

Mallan; Time to give him a run of games but the only way that happens is with 5 across the middle & that's the only way Knasmuller is going to fit in aswell.

Tried signing him earlier in season so we could go 4-5-1

Williams/Gardener should not be picked in the same side it's too defensive so Gardener starts for me.

Interesting point about Williams and Gardner in the same team, and I've said myself that Gardner has been better without Williams.

When I looked at the line up yesterday, I thought "negative" .

    BUT

Regardless of that starting line up, we really took it to QPR in the early stages. Moncur drifted in and had us on the front foot and we really should have made the most of that start.

Not scoring when on top is our big problem, regardless of personnel or formation.

Theme of the season is chopping and changing and playing well in the odd half of the odd game, but with the exception of 6 games, the return has been a point or less.

I'd like to see that team vs Wednesday. Think McBurnie will turn us around, once settled in. Moore can come on later in game if we need to change shape. Knasmuller may not be up to 90 mins in the Championship at first. Cant see the Austrian league being as physical.

Yeah, I would go with something like this. Our problem isn't letting goals in it is scoring them.....

I’d go 4-3-3 with Davies in goal; a back four of Yiadom, Jackson (if fit, otherwise Mills), Lindsay and Pinillos; Williams in front of the back four with Gardner and Mallan in front of him; McBurnie through and middle and two natural out and out wingers either side of him being Isgrove (if fit) and Mahoney.

I haven’t seen anything of Knassmüllner and I’d be surprised if he’s dropped straight in the XI against Wednesday.

I also don’t buy this “can’t play Williams and Gardner in the same side” stuff. Of course we can.

Has anyone considered that we may have to wait as long for knasmulner as we did to see Mallan around the first team?

Not sure we have the time. Agree he's unlikely to play 90 mins though.

Thankfully you aren't picking the team on Setdy.

He has one goal more than Hammill & a couple of assists more too. That's in about 6 or 7 games compared to 25 or so for AH.
Always loved Hammill but he's no end product at all these days.

    I’ve thought exactly the same.

He’s also the only player this window we signed that Hecky didn’t specifically ask for.
