Overstocking of fisheries has **** all to do with why cormorants have ventured in land.

I wouldn't be seen dead at a place like that.

I preferred Old Moor before the RSPB took it over, when you could get in at first light.

Both are industries that employ people and provide jobs and leisure opportunities for many thousands - equally activities humans have to do.. Some like fishing and/or shooting (and some, very few, like lurking in reed beds). Without going mad it's perfectly reasonable to want to reduce pests to a manageable level.
I suppose we're all a bit blinkered when it's our job or hobby that's affected.
Veggies think the countryside is overpopulated with cows!

I knew I would be able to reel you in on this one! My work here is done.

Infact, I'll have one last nibble back... you don't have to live near them therefore you don't really have the right to an opinion on this. They're a pain in the arse. A couple of the old boys shot a few the other month I was told. Down on broomhill fields. Fair play to em, the doo gooders and their ******* daft laws.

    Beautiful birds, but they're a ******* nightmare.

On a serious note, is anyone aware of red kite sightings near Old Moor? - The Mrs thinks she might have seen one over Brampton earlier, but she wasn't wearing her specs...
