I've enjoyed watching 3 automatic promotions and 2 successful playoff campaigns with the reds. Also several great escapes whilst in the championship, most notably the run we had under Flicker.

It's great to trawl back through the memory banks. Who scored the goal that won promotion? How many reds travelled? Who was I with? Etc etc

Dunno about everybody else, but the one thing I overlook through my red tinted specs is the fecking nervous wreck I was whilst all that was happening.

I'm feeling it a bit now. Looking at the other forums, looking at the fixtures of our rivals and doing the maths. It's great to be involved in summat at the end of the season. So many times during the 80s and 90s we were mid table 2nd division, nowt doing.

I love and hate this nervous feeling in equal measure and might end up in Walsall in midweek.

. . . . Official coaches will probably still be there before me

I know what you mean. Then I have to get a grip and say it's only football!

Very well observed and I can identify with the agony and ecstasy of following us over the years.

I’m pretending not to be too wound up this time but it’s complete self-automated and deluded denial designed to deal with and lessen the inevitable crushing disappointment if we fall short.

‘‘Twas always thus and will always be.

Wouldn’t have it any other way.

Totally agree with all that's been said. Some will say its only a football match why should it bother you but I bet these people don't have the same feeling as us when clint, hamill etc are scoring the winner. So I say its worth the agony for that ecstacy.

You know you've got it bad, when your team plays Friday night, but you still spend two hours watching the Saturday vidiprinter!

I was going to go to Accrington v Rochdale yesterday. Couple of pints and sit in the home end with my Accy mate. Would have been better than watching the scores all aft

    Of course it’s NERVES.
The first thing that I think about when I open my eyes on Sunday morning is the result from Saturday.
    It’s because I/we CARE !!!

Did you read my OP through at all? Of course I know it's nerves.

My point is we often forget how nervous these times are when remembering the good times.
