We are doing everything correct in the transfer business but I think it’s still essential we need to get another one.

Then for me that’s business done. Maybe a couple of loans to excite us on deadline day aye?

I think we lack experience at the back and a defensive minded hard man in mid field...

Styles looks a decent prospect but still expect another midfielder brought in .

Would imagine 3 or 4 of ours could go out on loan.

Can see us playing 3 in the middle more this season especially away from home.

I dont mind flooding the midfield with the attacking options we have in support of Woodrow.

I'd go Mowatt Dougall Mcgeehan in midfield.

Maybe but that would mean playing 1 up top and if kieffer is still here either him or Woodrow on the bench

Yes that's the sort of thing I'm expecting, but defensive as such but more compact when not in possession.

It would, but over a season with Injurys and multiple games that wouldn't surprise me either.

Totally agree. I think williams has a good future ahead but was exposed in league one and isn’t ready for championship football unless he’s improved dramatically over preseason

Spending a few million on a top class left back would make a big difference to the team given the way we play, and is necessary.

I’m very surprised we haven’t signed one yet

Yes we were dangerously short of cover at times towards the end and it nearly caught us out. Pressing game likely to tire players out if we play it properly, so need options all over the pitch. I think we need an experienced CB a left back and possibly one more holding midfielder, oh and 3 more goalies.

I think a left back is essential. But so is an experienced centre half. Suicide to go with the defence we have. They might all turn out to be good, but we don't need "turn out to be" we need ready and capable.

We've made about 15 million from selling Mawson, Roberts, Pinnock and Lindsay. Fantastic players, but I wouldn't give you tuppence for their performances in the first few months of their Barnsley careers. Not because they were poor players, they just needed time.

This an excellent point and really captures the key issue of a high turnover of players. Time to develop and build a true understanding is absolutely vital for central defenders.

I have no doubt that the potential quality of our new recruits is very high but the amount of time it will require to develop them and the impact that will have on our ability to survive in this league is a real worry. If we can survive the first season though the future could become very bright indeed once the development periods start to mature .
