It’s worse than the billy smart circus kit sponsored by shaw carpets. Truly awful. Hmm, what’s really embarrassing about our ground, oh yes, the west stand... hmm, now what if we had the wall on our kits... genius... what’s on the away kit, the car park barriers? Dreadful idea.
I first joined the BBS in January 2004 (Barnsleyfc.net at the time) and every Summer since it's been the same comments and criticisms on the launch day of a new kit. It's the epitome of Groundhog Day. At my age, I find myself having an intense indifference (if there is such a thing!) to it all. The only kit I've ever found hideous & ugly was the stars kit for the 1989/90 season. When it was brought back out a year or two ago by some company, my feelings towards it hadn't altered one bit. I'm pleased to see a return of the hooped socks, bringing back happy memories of our 1996/97 promotion winning season, the Wembley Play Off victory over Millwall and the excellent first half of the 2016/17 campaign.
Absolute shower. It's saved me £45 quid. The white trim is too thick on the sleeves and what's up with a white trim around the neck. Doesn't look right just red. I's boring and meh.
But it might be more intimidating to opposition teams - with either Cavere or Thiam running towards them looking like real brick sh*t houses!!
The shirt looks like it's faded in the wash with the bricks. Of all the things our club should be proud of to put on a home shirt we pick our decaying not fit for purpose west stand.
I must need to upgrade from Poundland to Specsaver reading glasses. I can't see anything hideous at all. The background design is barely noticeable unless close up anyway. A round neck instead of a collar is always preferable to me as well.
I like that whoever designed it has tried to do something unique to us with the brick print, that's a lovely idea. It's difficult to keep coming up with ideas for essentially a plain red shirt. I just don't like the arms as it looks like a Rotherham shirt, not like Barnsley traditionally. Because of the brick detail there was scope to have a plainer looking shirt which are always more popular anyway.
It's one of them shirts like we had years ago with the stars on, where a few years later fans were saying/ thinking what the fooook were they thinking
Not that I remember (with my memory, you could well be right!), but I'm just talking about the home kit, as that's the one being launched today. It's as predictable as night follows day and we never sign the right players. As another poster has mentioned, you're somewhat limited with basically a plain red shirt. Having said that, after we'd won promotion in 2006, one of the criticisms levelled at the shirt for 2006/07 season was "It's not the right colour red!"
