I’ve signed up. Working from home full time but happy to give up my weekends and evenings delivering stuff if it keeps folk alive. Great idea that you can just check for jobs when you’re free like Uber drivers do to give people flexibility.

Apologies for my earlier post any help is much appreciated. I realise volunteers have families to protect too and wouldn't put themselves forward if they thought for one minute they would be harming anyone.

Fact is I'm a coward and I'm **** scared of going back to work and possibly bringing infection back to my six month old son. The death of the 21 year old lass with no underlying health conditions has **** me up more too.

I was probably against the volunteering because you're everything I'm not.

Apologies from Me for calling you ridiculous... thought you were being an a*s, but fully understand many people feel the way you do. If you need any help or support please ask, And stay safe

They are doing background checks on people, which is slowing the process of people getting up & running, but for the reasons you mention it is a necessary precaution. There was racketeering in the wars, not everyone was carrying on with a bulldog spirit & that will be the same here sadly, but lives are at stake & this is probably the least worst scenario.

You make a good point Stephen. Fortunately, or unfortunately I live alone, so I don't have that dilemma. If I did, I'm sure I'd feel the same way.

Absolutely fair - they’re doing all they can without a doubt.

I still worry though. I just hope there’s a way for the vulnerable to easily let someone know they haven’t received what they should have, if the worst happens

Respect for saying that SD and yes , if you feel someone in your family is high risk you should stop at home as not to to put additional pressures on the NHS .

They are checking everyone's ID. Say it will take up to 7 days. I guess a letter in the post to the address on the ID with an access code would filter out anyone with stolen ID.

I agree that the NHS needs more funding and it’s been mistreated for years, but the charity thing doesn’t sit well with me at all. I won’t name names, but a close friend of mine, his mum is a manager for a certain children’s charity. She takes home 50k a year, a company car and only works 3 days a week. Maybe I’m missing the point, but that to me is ridiculous. I also used to pay into a scheme at work, every month I gave 30 quid to a firm who then split the money across a bunch of charities. It turns out all but 1 of the charities stated that only 45% of my donation would go into changing the lives of young people. The big charities have taken the piss for years. Not saying they don’t do a lot of good, cos they do, but the actual amount of money that goes directly to those who need it is a disgrace.

    What area are you in?

I’m not too far from BDGH, am presuming location will be a big factor in who gets accepted too

Mapplewell . Yep I've thought that .maybe so many people per borough at a guess . Still , it will be some logistical feat should they get it up and running . I just hope I get a blue flashing light for my car a la starskey and hutch.

I’ve registered too, but I was more hoping they’d give me an ambulance to use. Get a few dump it runs in, in it, maybe spend a long weekend in Devon laid out on the stretcher sipping cold beers...
