Just be aware before taking it to the tip that a lot of councils now insist you have a permit for inert waste. I didn't know until yesterday when I'd loaded my car with about 1/4 tonne of rubble sacks! He told me it was £3.50 a sack without a permit but permits are free and take upto 7 working days to arrive, I'm making a trip back next week but saving £35. My local council is South Ribble though, not sure if BMBC are doing this yet?
Barnsley council are introducing a permit system, or they were last time I was there a couple of months ago. They let me in but told me I needed to apply for a permit.
We've had to had a permit for a while here in Leeds. I'm not sure what the point is of it though? Surely this would just encourage flytipping from non-permit holders?
Barnsley say you need a permit because some of the people using the Barnsley dumpit sites MIGHT be coming from other towns? They have zero evidence or facts to support that but they said that it MIGHT be the case.
I thought that might be the reason but I don't understand that. If no-one needs a permit for any site then surely you'd just use the closest one? Why would anyone travel to go to a different site? And if they do, does it really matter if people from Barnsley are travelling to the other ones? I'd think it would all balance out.
The Barnsley excuse is that Rotherham have reduced their opening hours due to government cuts so they think people will use Barnsley tips more during the one hour window they are open longer (it might be 90minutes)
