Perhaps he's doing exactly what his party want him to do.

Far right? But then again anything and everything must appear to be on the right when you're viewing it from the far left.

If you'd been in the SAS I might even take some notice of what you said, but as you were not I think you are the pillock.

I assume that means Davis has? Intelligence can't be part of their entry criteria then...

I can't accept that any Tories can be happy with the notion of them being provided with powers "they won't use" that can be used to do anything.

He was in the TA 21st SAS (Artists) Reserve. Never saw active service. But he does display the same level of arrogance that seems to come from being in the SAS.

This current Tory government is the farthest right in Europe, with the possible exception of Belarus.

So you are perfectly happy with these powers coming into effect and this government losing a vote of no-confidence in the Autumn and a Labour government winning the subsequent election? Those powers would still be in effect for the incumbent party to use as they see fit. Ministers making laws without recourse to Parliament or committee is really taking back control.

And does that mean we have a far right government? Of course it doesn't. They're not even close to being a far right party with far right policies and anyone with half a brain can see that.

For somebody on the far left to open a post by stating we have a far right government is quite ironic. It just makes reasoned debate impossible.

Henry VIII powers are not all that uncommon already and I think any attempts to abuse them, by any party, around legislation would be challenged in court.

I think the best quote today re: these powers is this one.

After all, the purpose of this Bill is to repeal the greatest Henry VIII clause in our history. For 44 years the European Communities Act 1972, which implemented our membership of the European Community, has meant EU legislation has become binding on UK citizens with no power for Parliament to amend or reject it.

Once a law was agreed in Brussels, even if every single British MP voted against it, it still became law.

Well, by definition if they are the furthest right in Europe (which you didn't disagree with), they are far right. Compare their policies with the centre-right governments in Germany and France and see the difference.

    From Wiki

"Far-right politics is right-wing politics that is further on the right of the left-right spectrum than the standard political right.

Far-right politics often involves a focus on tradition, real or imagined, as opposed to policies and customs that are regarded as reflective of modernism. Many far-right ideologies have a disregard or disdain for egalitarianism, although they may not express overt support for social hierarchy, elements of social conservatism, and opposition to most forms of liberalism and socialism.[citation needed]"

    So:
Opposition to Liberals and Socialists (check)
    Disregard egalitarianism (check)
Focus on tradition, particularly religious traditions (check)
    Social conservatism (check)

Seems to pass most of those criteria, as well as promoting nationalistic, chauvinistic, xenophobic and racist policies..

No it doesn't. Having left wing governments does not, by default, make a centre right party far right. They may be further right than the French and German governments but that doesn't make them far right. Further to the right and far right are very different things.

Racist, xenophobic and chauvinistic policies? Now you're having a laugh.

David Davis...On leaving Bec Grammar School in Tooting, his A Levelresults were not good enough to secure a university place, so Davis worked as an insurance clerk and became a member of the Territorial Army's 21 SAS Regiment in order to earn the money to retake his examinations. After doing so, he was able to win a place at the University of Warwick (BSc Joint Hons Molecular Science/Computer Science 1968–71). Whilst at Warwick, he was one of the founding members of the student radio station, University Radio Warwick and he founded a men's choir [4]. He went straight on from there to London Business School, where he got a master's degree in Business (1971–73), and, later, Harvard University (Advanced Management Program 1984–85).

Davis worked for Tate & Lyle for 17 years, rising to become a senior executive, including restructuring its troubled Canadian subsidiary, Redpath Sugar.[5] He wrote about his business experiences in the 1988 book How to Turn Round a Company.

You in the other hand achieved what exactly apart from joining the NUM....? And three soldiers makes a racist organisation. You really need to take a good look at yourself with some of the stupid utterances you post on here

Companies have to employ British Labour first? Attempting to deport people that have lived in the UK their entire adult lives (and in at least one case they were born here)? Reducing immigration to an arbitrary figure without any evidence to support the decision? Suppressing reports into the effects of immigration? Going into coalition with the DUP, who have some questionable policies regarding women's rights? That's just since the election.

They have to go through a thorough judicial process to deport anybody and applications to deport people are often refused if they can't be justified. Believe it or not but some people who are here shouldn't be.

When did we go into a coalition with the DUP? I must have missed that. I saw that we entered into a confidence and supply arrangement with them but this is nothing like a coalition. No DUP policy becomes part of government policy.

Controlled immigration is generally accepted as being a positive step.

    Racist, xenophobic and chauvinistic?

Typical Tory bullshyte are you thick, I said them soldiers were arrested for terrorism, not a racist organisation.
You want to know what I have achieved in life, I've got to 67 years of age and enjoyed every minute I married a lovely girl in 1971 we brought up a family and now have 4 grand children of which I'm very proud I signed for Barnsley FC in 1970 after being on Bolton Wanderers Books I have played on Blundell Park, Bloomfield Road, Oakwell and a few more grounds I was Yorkshire schoolboy under 15 cross-country champion at Bradfield in 1964 but my greatest achievement was in 1984/85 fighting for my job against your party for 13 months such as thee would have scabbed, I would not swap my lfe for any of your Tory heroes because I know I have never done anyone any wrong, them lying cheating tw@ts can't say that.
