Corbyn has pledged to stay in the customs union, that's the same as not leaving.

How is that not going back on Brexit?

Voters certainly saw it that way.

There have been nearly two years of debating what 'type' of brexit should happen. That demonstrates that there are many interpretations of how far brexit should go in terms of distancing ourselves from our previous relationships with the EU. The referendum asked a single question and did not further define what brexit should mean. In my humble opinion that means that the decision of how far brexit should extend is placed in the hands of the government of the day. They in turn are limited by the constraints of what they can actually get passed through parliament. In June last year the electorate denied Theresa May the mandate to enact a hard brexit. The current parliamentary arithmetic looks stacked in favour of consideration of a customs union-type arrangement. A triumph for parliamentary sovereignty and "taking back control". May's usual modus operandi is to compromise when she is faced with what seems like an inevitable defeat. So in my view we can expect a compromise which may not be called a customs union, but which will look a lot like one in reality. Hopefully that will avoid the huge damage which a "hard" brexit would bring.

Has was said on question time by Martin Lewis “ Camereon gave us a black and white vote on a rainbow of issues “ I thought that summed it up exactly imo people on both sides voted for different things as the following debates and polls prove .
