thought might take my lad,new experience, do not know many players any more but still give it a go, then looked at price, makes football look cheap ,50 quid each per session, 99 quid each if you want a seat that gets you near table ,we not bothering, working people can not do owt off the cuff anymore
It's the world championship so I think it's a fair price. What would you pay to go to a world cup match or a grand prix? We go to the first of the 2nd round matches though not the more expensive semis or final. You get a good view no matter where you sit, that's the beauty of the crucible. This is our 4th year and I cant wait.
But you pay 25 pounds for a league 1 football match off the cuff. These are the top 32 players and you're guaranteed to be watching a top 16 seed.
That's the problem. Because it only holds 950 they can charge what they want, hide behind the history of the venue and still sell out. Whilst they could move it to a bigger venue and lower prices knowing they have more seats to fill. Betfred as the title sponsors offered a Ronnie win at 3/1 which was too good to not get on.
This is the world championship, a few people fly in from round the world to sheffield for it, there are certainly folk come from all round the country go to it, and the venue holds under 1000. If it was a premier league snooker event at the metrodome, I’d expect no more than £20 a ticket. I don’t think £50 is unfair compared to other sports for a world championship match.
Is that how much it is now? That's shot up, first 2 rounds used to be dirt cheap. Can't see me ever going again at those prices.
I think it is less if you get tickets direct from Crucible. Think 3 sessions x2 cost around 200.when we got them ready for this year Yes you could sell more tickets at a bigger venue but then it wouldn't be local, you would get a rubbish view in the cheaper seats and the atmospheric would totally change. I think once Barry Hearn goes that may well happen but that's when I personally would revert back to watching on the telly
Sport in general is very expensive these days. Aside from Barnsley I just won't pay the prices to watch it anymore.
I've only been once, can't remember what we paid but it won't have been a fortune. We were quite lucky in that it was the earlier rounds and we could see two matches at the same time...John Higgins ( can't remember who he played) on one table and Steve Davis and Neil Robertson on the other....Steve Davis was awful, on that form he wouldn't have won a match in a WMC.
