    But you are still allowed to loan a player up until the 31st August with an agreed permanent transfer in the January window
    is it me or is that pretty much the same thing

    Seems like it to me. No wonder it went through .

    Edit: Although it would be interesting to see how the Morsy deal would have played out under this system, assuming we had agreed a permanent transfer with Wigan.
