Festive Crackdown On Drink Drivers Club News ‘They’re making a plan, they’re checking it twice, they’re going to find out who’s naughty or nice - traffic cops are coming to town!’ Continue reading on the official site...
Good to see this shared, people knowingly getting in a car that are drunk and driving are utter arseholes
Fukin madness that anybody feels the urge to drink and drive. Usually it’s the drink drivers who walk away without a scratch and kill innocent drivers/pedestrians
Why just at Xmas though. Nobody should drink and drive at anytime of year. Personally I'd be happy for the crackdown to be all year round.
Good idea. Especially as we sell alcohol at our ground. I bet we'd catch loads over the limit with a compulsory breath test when driving from the ground.
As if football fans aren’t harassed enough by the police, let’s introduce “random” stopping of people without cause - welcome to Nazi Germany.
I've been going to football for decades and have never been harassed but you're right, stopping people from drinking and driving is such a Nazi thing to do. Let's not bother.
Drink driving is both wrong and stupid. Compulsory breath tests for supporters leaving a football ground is both wrong and stupid.
Nar then god forbid any of your loved ones every has an incident with a drink driver, your attitude will differ.
Can you even imagine a situation where police being able to stop people and demand they provide details of who they are, where they’re going and take a breath test MIGHT be open to abuse?
I think people who drink and drive are stupid. I think giving police more power to harass who they want is stupid. there is no “either/or” in these statements.
yeah it never happens. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/10412281 https://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/uk-news/football-fan-awarded-compensation-greater-10035158
They aren't the Stasi so there would be nothing sinister, no hidden agenda and nothing to fear for anybody who wasn't over the limit. It wouldn't be a case of everyone lining up at gunpoint, it would be random and if they had reason to believe that the driver was over the limit. If they stop one person from risking the lives of others then I don't see a problem.
Look I get that on the Internet in general, and on here in particular, the “string em up” mentality about the way we should police our country is a big gallery winner - a competition of one-up-manship about who can be tougher on crime and criminals. It’s just that when it comes up against the hard reality of our hard fought freedoms in the real world it’s just a bit silly isn’t it? A tiny minority drink and drive- the logical internet solution - “let the police do as they please to stop these misfits.” No, that’s not how a civil society works, you want the police to be all powerful, move to China.
