I don't have much knowledge of the academy players, other than those that make the first team. Certainly this has to be one of our best seasons for academy players coming through & establishing themselves. Good luck Greg.

I dont think this has any effect on Struber, theres plenty of coaches within the academy. This guys probably gunna Wednesday, they tend to throw money at any of our academy coaches in an attempt to produce any youngsters themselves.

Wasn't there something the other week about a lot of the academy staff being laid off?

I'll be curious to see if he's replaced or responsibilities shared, and if he crops up elsewhere.

The fact its such a long piece suggests he hasn't chosen to go of his own accord.

That is a great interview and explains his role perfectly. What a pity he has had to leave before we discovered this or who Greg was. Understanding his role, one wonders what Bobby Hassell does? What is his role, there seemed to be a lot of overlap. Greg is obviously skilled and ambitious and fits into the new world of football, both here, the MLS and in mainland Europe.
Perhaps the club are slightly tweaking their philosophy in a post Covid-19 world, that's why he felt it was time to move on.

It doesnt read as though he was pushed though does it. I suspect its his decision but maybe one he had already discussed with the club before the end of season?

I'm going on the basis that voluntary choices to leave the club, especially to go to another team are often short terse and petty statements. Those who are sacked, asked to move on or offered a severance are more glowing and lengthy.

Its precisely the sort of statement you'd offer out when youve agreed a severance thats coupled with an NDA.

Hence why it will be interesting to see if he's replaced, I suspect not and we'll be looking to cut costs and share the load of existing staff.

You may well be right but its a bit too gushing for someone who has been pushed out against his will - maybe its a genuine mutual consent. Be interesting to see if he has another position lined up
It doesnt read as if he is going to be replaced though - more that Bobby and others will cover his departure

To be fair, that is a statement by him saying goodbye to us, the club's statement is 'Greg Miller has left his position of Head of Academy Coaching, at Oakwell.'

Precisely, when have we ever allowed someone who left under these owners for somewhere else to put out a lengthy positive sounding statement? In all fairness, Patrick was often pretty terse and sharp too in similar circumstances.
