Good read that. Reidy was a leader in that team no doubt about it. Amazing how many players not from the town regard Barnsley as "their" club

I liked Paul Reid and I was just as disappointed as him during the 2004/5 season. The club had spent a lot on players that close season.

We had Barry Conlon up front and a young lad out wide. It was too rigid a system, playing 1 up front with no pace who wasn't prolific. It just needed tweaking to 442 or 352,it was put to Paul Hart during interviews, the ferocious responses were memorable. McPhail and Chopra helped that team no end.
If I remember rightly Peter Risdale overspent his budget quite quickly, some of it on a salary for himself. I'm old now,so I could be mis remembering.
Paul Reid was very versatile, would have made a good sweeper in a back 3.

Yeah Boulding and Nardiello up front too when fit. I think Reid would have been better in a three with Carbon and Vaughan.

Good memories of Reid for us - will never forget that season.

    He'll do for me.
