I’m not doubting you. I just meant that I have never heard them called anything but Forest before. I wonder how many of their fans use that nickname?

I should correct myself though. I started in 1962 so that’s 58 years and not once have I heard that nickname

There's an issue with Forest you see. When writing about them as a Barnsley man. Their common nicknames are Forest and Reds. Now, I'm not going to use the latter as that would either confuse our fans, or anger our fans ("we are the Reds, not them"). And I can't just refer to them as Forest completely. So you go with the next nickname. And that is apparently Tricky Trees. Can't say as I've ever heard of them called that out loud either. But it was that or Garibaldis and our fans would think biscuit.

Matt Forde and Matt Dyson, comedians and big Forest fans always call them the Tricky Trees on their Absolute Radio show.

Barring the obvious. (That Some will reply.) I can’t think of ever knowing a nickname for forest. unless it’s Reds. ( which is common for most teams. That play in red as a second shout),
A new one for me. And I used to know em all.
Not even sure what our official nickname is any more.
    Colliers
    Tykes
    Reds
    Tarn
    Dingles. ;)
Do like Tarn. As Newcastle refer to themselves as the Toon other than Magpies.
Perhaps YTBFC could run a poll by the club. As they did with the badge.
CUM ON’T TARN Has a ring to it for me.

I'd call us the Colliers if it was up to me. I love our heritage.

I'm not particularly bothered as long as we get 3 points from The Feisty Foliage.

Me, too. I'd also insist that Crystal Palace revert back to their nickname of The Glaziers and Reading to theirs of The Biscuit Men.:D

I’ve definitely heard the nickname from somewhere, probably an early version of championship/ football manager or similar game where a newspaper headline would refer to them as the tricky trees. May also have been an early edition of PES before they started acquiring official rights to team names.
