    I just hope if he makes a mistake or two the crowd don't get on his back and give him a chance....

    Davies was poor last season but the pressure he was under at times was unreal and can't have helped.

    We gave Davies a new contract when he was a first choice at championship level. He's not going to be bench warming. If Walton is first choice, Davies as a high earner will be got shut of.

    Spot on. I think Davies is the better keeper so will start the season in goal but it'll be nice to see some healthy competition. Heckingbottom never trusted Townsend until the very end and when he was back dropped, he declared his intention to leave which isn't great for anyone. Walton won't be doing that just yet so nice to see two very good goalkeepers at this level for a change.

    I just think having walton on the bench is not doing him any good, if he's not number one he'd be better off loaned out to a league club where he will get regular games and get first team football. An older more experienced keeper would be better as back up to push davies because from last season his confidence/progress has declined rapidly.

    Partly agree. We need a settled back 5. So the call has to be made quickly. Part of our problem last season was the constant changing of the back 4 - although at times due to injury.

    I’m happy to go with either keeper - Walton is the ‘money earner’ in terms of re-sale, but I’m also happy with Davies. See how it goes.

    I generally think the back 5 we have, is probably the best part of the squad - the issues are more in midfield and up front.
