Winkler: "We want to control the match." Interviews Barnsley Assistant Head Coach Andreas Winkler praised his side following their 2-0 Yorkshire derby victory over Bradford City at the weekend. Continue reading on the official site...
Interesting comment (paraphrased) from football heaven clip- in answer to "at 2-0 up many teams would become more defensive, but Barnsley continued to attack. Why was that?" He says "Thats not why we are here, Daniel Stendel came here to play our way, we don't do that."
https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p06hcbfj Here is today’s presser He speaks really well. I was quite vocal about having a non English speaking coach after the Morais debacle but I imagine Winkler bridges the gap at he moment. He sounds a really positive and intelligent guy, and I can see how the players will warm to him.
I love the fact that we are less bothered about what our opponents can/will do & are concentrating on what we should do!
Really like listening to Andreas. He talks a lot of sense. Talking about not messing with the spine was interesting, especially if they mean what I understand the spine to be, running core from back to front. Change of fullbacks and two wide men?
I really like the way he comes across. Very well spoken and positive. I'd love to go out for a pint with him.
I reckon Andreas and Giddings would make a cracking tag team reading bed time stories. Love their voices.
Definitely! I love the German dry sense of humour. I think that they get a very raw deal with the humourless stereotype. Most Germans I've met have been an absolutely cracking laugh (in a very organised sort of a way) .
I think that having Andreas doing the interviews is a major positive for us. Allows Daniel to put all his focus and attention on the team whilst his assistant works with the media. He comes across really well and talks a lot of sense. It's refreshing not the hear the regular cliche answers too.
