Can anyone remember the name of a small sports shop, probably mid to late 1980s, that was located on Graham's Orchard? I think it was an official Nike stockists and also was the only shop in town that I can ever remember having the Lowfield/Sandal Bayern home shirt in. Shop owner, or regular sales staff, was a woman I think.

Talking about the older shops with some of the lads recently, we can remember lots of the others - Suggs, Midwoods, Keegans, Don Valley Sports etc, but this one we cannot remeber the name.

Blackford Sports? Had a stall on the market but now has an actual shop somewhere in town.

It doesn't ring a bell, possibly too early. Blackfords is a great shop though. Down the arcade I think now?

That’s the one. It has always done very niche gear, like a market stall version of Inter Sport.

Do you mean Midwood Sports that fronted on to Shambles Street? Had this very conversation the other day. Remember Keegans being good value, and wasn't Suggs opposite where the Alhambra is now? Didtinctly remember getting my England 1982 football kit from Woolies (think it was the third floor up 2 lots of escalators!)

We had 3 great sports shops at that time.
Midwoods, Sugg sports outside market upstairs & Don Valley sports next to the Old Pavilion, best boozer to ever grace the town!!!!

Don't know the one your after but there was one up racecommon rd in the 80 n early 90's that sold loads of football kits you didn't find in the usual sports shop, remember getting a Dunfermline shirt and a Gillingham shirt among some other obscure ones

I remember Midwoods being on Shambles Street, top side of where The Londoner is.

No, I remember Midwoods, lovely bloke Bob Midwood. The one I'm thinking of was definitely on lower end of Grahams Orchard, towards Peel Square.

Would have been one of these shops. Going by them stocking the Sandal Bayern shirt, it must be 86-88 at least.[IMG]

It is now a Indian the takeaway, really small place it was, mostly rugby and football with darts, pool/snooker, and swimming gear. I haven’t got the foggiest what it was called. I know they did lay away though, because my Mam paid for a mitre multiplex and a pair of Patrick gold cup football boots for my 10th Birthday on the weekly, bet she was glad when our old lady had done paying, they must have taken up 5% of her total shop space and they’d been sold for months hahaha. I remember the boots being too big for about 12 months I used to have more pairs of socks than George the sock man just to stop them coming off hahahaha.
