Just seen her Oscar acceptance speech. What a fantastic and genuine woman. Makes you proud to be British.
Puts those who make pre written political rants to shame that. She’s unashamedly delighted and shocked, a very talented lady undoubtedly and her career, whilst hardly stalling, might just get a rocket boost. You’d imagine big American studios queuing up to cast her. Good on her, brilliant stuff.
You can just tell that she really didn't expect to win that, not one of these "I wasn't expecting this, despite being the favourite with the bookies for 6 months. Let me just get out my 4 page speech..." It's hard to believe she's the same person that was on Peep Show all those years ago. With the amount of British Royal Family movies that Hollywood is making recently, She will be in very high demand.
What a fall from grace. Bet she wishes she was back up there doing the AA loan adverts, not down in Hollywood.
Absolutely brilliant in the "Night Manager" one of the best (IMHO) TV dramas I have ever watched. Took me back to my days as a kid hiding behind the sofa in the early 60 watching Dr Who.
They reckon that the win in the Oscars will certainly boost her chances of landing some really big roles in the future and potentially her earnings could benefit from becoming Hollywood " royalty" by some £24 million in a very short space of time. Before taking up acting she used to work as a cleaner to earn her living, which could account for why she remains a well grounded and very modest lady.
Brilliant that, I cant believe the Americans have an impression of us English that we are a eccentric lot ( said whilst having my tongue firmly implanted in my cheek )
Got dragged off to see "The Favourite" by the Mrs on Friday - must admit it wasn't a film I was planning to see Olivia Coleman was superb as were Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz but I found the film overall disappointing - seemed to be produced to appeal to critics rather than the masses, it had good bits but was generally a bit slow. Still Emma got her kit off so not all bad . All of them seemed to be affected with a touch of Tourettes with the words lovely person and f*ck being liberally uttered by male and female actors alike. Mrs F had pretty much the same view as me so glad it was her idea. Guessing its not a film to appeal to most on here.
