Me and a bunch of mates are looking into going to Oktoberfest next year and was wondering if anyone has been and if anyone could suggest places to stay etc.

I went about 20 years ago fabulous experience I know we stayed in a big posh hotel but I can't remember what it was called we were on a freebie with John Smith's Hamburg first taken round Holsten Pils factory a night on the piss then flown to Munich for the fest took me a week to sober up

Really looking forward to it, we are on a budget so will be unlikely we will be in a big fancy hotel like you did but I am sure it will take us a similar recovery period afterwards.

If you're after saving a few quid to do it (aren't we all) then fly Manchester to Nuremberg then the last bit by train (still a hour n half ish). Book train in advance and get a group ticket so I've been told. Ryan scare do that route and it's usally dirt cheap compared to direct flights to Munich.

A couple of nights at the end after Oktoberfest in Nuremberg will help sober you up too....not. (it's a great place for a lot of beer so just carry on drinking ;) )

Went on a freebie from work via a supplier in 2012. Not got a clue where we stayed other than it was a fair way out of Munich. All I will say is that the Oktoberfest is a fantastic experience. You won't be disappointed......
