Very good interview, helps to put some of my worries to rest. Says £6m on promotion would be put into squad.

Interesting listen - all makes sense to me.

I just wish Andy had asked about what is needed to take us from a settled mid-table team in the Champ to the top 6.

It sounds like our current model can sustain us as a mid-table Championship club. But beyond that is a different ball-game as such.

He said last night that every penny from transfers etc would be reinvested in the club and that there were no loans etc taken out to pay for the takeover that needed to be repaid. We are debt free. Still got a fair bit of the meeting to write up (job for the train back to York from London tonight)
He also addressed the question about loans owed to Patrick as there has been speculation that these were paid back at the point of the takeover. This was not the case (will post the exact answer to ensure I did not misunderstand but essentially Patrick wanted to leave a legacy and wrote them off). Also Rob Zuk mentioned the balance sheet would show an increase of 3m to 9m for the latest accounts that will be published shortly (again those figures off the top of my head without checking my notes)

    Thanks Gally.

Look forward to the write-up. All seems promising.

Looking forward to your précis of the items discussed at the Fans forum Gally. I think the majority of
our supportes already held the late Patrick Cryne in the highest possible regard. For my part, to hear
he wanted to leave a legacy after he died and therefore wrote any outstanding loans off, speaks volumes of his
genuine love and devotion for his home town Football Club and adds to the genuine esteem in which
he will always be perceived by the fans of Barnsley FC.

When you say an increase of 3m to 9m in the accounts, is that debt or profit?

And that's why I think a permanent memorial to him, either a plaque or more favourably a statue would be well deserved in my opinion.

I think we all agree on that, but the man himself didn't want it so we'd have to honour that

What you will see in the accounts when they are published at the end of the month is the balance sheet in a stronger position post take over. Equity in it now is roughly 9million now as opposed to 3m previously. There was a debt owed on the balance sheet, a soft debt, which has been tidied up.

A very good listen that, apart from too many sentences starting with "So.......". He talked some good sense and I believe the club is in good hands. All these people who complain that we haven't invested £10 million in a striker yet should take the longer term view. I think we will be doing that in years to come, but we're not there yet.

At the start of the revolution that saw Bournemouth propelled into the Premier League their rich owner sanctioned a big move for a South African forward called Tokelo Rantie. The fee was between 2 and 3 million and was obviously a record for such a small club. It didn't work out though and in three years Rantie only played 44 games, scoring 5 goals. Luckily for the Cherries other players did the business for them and look where they are now. All those who say we have no chance of getting back there should look at the example set by this club, and the likes of Burnley and Huddersfield. If they can do it I'm sure we can as well. It might take a few more seasons of slow building but BFC is a club on the rise :)

Very enlightening imo . Not going to burden club with debt build ,the fanbase and activities , emphasis on academy , all in a sensible business model . I like it exciting times ahead without the worry of it all going horribly wrong.

Maybe in an age where the vast majority of clubs spend money they havent got and continually fall foul of FFP, the prudent, well run clubs may, in the future hold all the cards. Heres hoping.

I completely agree! Also wish the cheats were dealt with properly, ie points deduction (rather than a stupid fine)!

Yes - good interview with some really interesting comments.
Especially when he was talking about attracting support from a broader Barnsley area - and getting fans back that have drifted away.

Very encouraging interview. I found it most interesting that Gauthier remains a board member- still "part of the family". Closer ties with Nice in future?
