I see we scored both our penalties this season but how many have we had awarded in the last three seasons? We seem to get fewer than anyone else, or is that my imagination?
I know we seem to get a few turned down but It would help if we actually ran at players in the box more, and stuck more crosses in. Law of averages and all that.
Yes, think the lack of dribbling doesn’t help our chances but even so. Charlton had something like nine the season before this last one and we didn’t have anything like that.
I believe it was a tactic over the past couple of seasons for Charlton players (in particular Taylor) to go down easily in the box. Especially near the end of the game as he did at Oakwell. It would be interesting to see how many of their penalties awarded were late in the game because it seemed to be a regular occurance. We are simply too honest and their seems to be an unwritten bias in refs against awarding us penalties as we saw on Wednesday night.
Considering we only got about 4 or 5 in our record breaking season last year I suppose 2 this season is not bad going.....
Karlan Grant (now at Hudders) and Taylor were terrible for diving in League 1 - both carried on with it this season. Cheats don't always prosper thankfully, with Charlton and Taylor going back down
