You're basing this post on 68 minutes of friendly football.

    Knee jerk call.

Jones has always looked a decent player, he's just struggled with injuries.

    All last season?

Jones didn't even play half the games.

Phil Jones is what you call a good old fashioned versatile player.
Which means hes crap in any position

He played 5 less games than stones

    So not much difference

Who do you think is the best player

    Stones

    Jones ?

Neither are 'streets ahead' of the other.

Phil Jones had a poor spell at a similar age to Stones is now. Same with Smalling.

Can't say I rate Jones especially. Stones has been relatively poor over the last year but there are peaks and troughs in any players development. He will improve and kick on. I can't see the same of Jones.

Stones would get a lot of stick on here if he wasn't a Barnsley lad and ex player.

I've hardly seen him have a good game defensively for ages

Could there be a reason for that AT.? Re- Adjusting to new styles of play re- Martinez to Koeman, then Guardiola.?

In "awe " of having better players around him, the massive expectations placed on him re- his fee or could it be that
the pressure from the press prying into his private life is starting to affect him and his relationship with his girlfriend.?

Remember Rooney's performances when the scandal about him playing away from home broke just before the World Cup.?

We don't know is the answer but from what we saw of him when he was with us and how he performed when he first went
to Everton there is a good player " in there". Let's hope and given time he comes good again.

I'm just glad Man City bought John Stones when they did as there is absolutely no way anyone would pay £50m for him now.

I sympathise with any central defenders for England, if Eric Dyer is a defensive midfielder & Chamberlin in the midfield, there is no protection for the defence, no one picking up the runners , they are totally exposed.
