Andros Townsend interviewed on TV this morning and Jacob Brown in this week's Chron both saying that to complete the season games may have to be played behind closed doors, presumably so that Sky can resume television coverage. If the Clubs go down this route then that's me done with the game.
I don't care if he's one of our players or not. Any football player who encourages finishing the season behind closed doors is extremely selfish and thoughtless.
When I saw your headline I rushed upstairs to get my scrabble board lol Joking aside I think you can safely say this season will be scrapped , we havnt begun with this fekin bug yet . Scary time’s .
Might be in the minority but I'd rather see them play behind closed doors if/when these home tests are in place so that the season can be completed. Give season ticket holders free ifollow access etc. It is the fairest thing to do. If anyone disagrees, can you genuinely say you would feel the same if we were in the top two right now?
Personally, if were in the top 2 id be more against us playing behind closed doors. Id selfishly want to be there to see us promoted back to the premier league. Last season for example, when Pompy lost at home to Posh, whilst a great feeling it wasn't the same watching my team get promoted behind a television screen. Id want to be there and enjoy it with my friends and family.
But if it is a case of that or nothing at all and the season gets cancelled, I fail to see how that would help? Surely you would want the team to get what they deserve? Whether people like them or not, it would be a travesty if Liverpool don't get the title this season. I am looking at things from an impartial perspective and realise it would probably result in us going down but that would be what we deserved. (I appreciate that football is not a priority right now).
It cant be safe. Crowds will gather outside, we ve seen that happen elsewhere. There will be no victory parades, it will be an anti climax.
Playing behind closed doors will not stop this virus being passed around players and staff, which will lock down whole teams if 1 person gets it. Therefore making it impossible to complete fixtures
As a season ticket holder I would resent being locked out of home games. If the reason for completing the fixtures is to ensure promotion and relegation issues are settled then I could understand it. However, if Sky cameras are invited in then it would be sufficient proof to me that the professional game cares less about the fans than it does the Sky money.
They already have the Sky money to be fair, and i don't see the point in cutting our noses off to spite our face. Just can't see it being fair nulling and voiding the season if other possibilities might be doable.
I think in those circumstances it would make sense. There is not going to be a solution everyone agrees with sadly, whatever the outcome.
A large number of businesses, football or otherwise, don’t have the cashflow to survive much beyond the start of May. The EFL will absolutely attempt to finish the season with behind closed doors games - it will only be the Government (or public opinion) that stops it from happening.
Is that indeed true Titus. I would think like any other business there will be terms and conditions. eg to supply the product. Which is not being delivered. I would imagine the cash flow from advertising/subscriptions will all be taken into account and will be severely reduced. That's why the premier league and efl are dithering. Loss of income. Else why would Burnley put forward they are still going to pay all the staffs wages. Surely that would be a given if they already have the money.
Our own Coach is saying he doesn't think that the season can be finished. That could possibly lead to one of two scenarios viz: void the league and start again in August, or promote and relegate as the tables stand now. Before that happened, I'd want to know the intended punishment the FA intend to hand down to the Fowls for their persistence in cheating. http://sportwitness.co.uk/i-cant-se...dmits-concern-covid-19-coronavirus-situation/
