Couldn't give a ****. Both sets of fans were happy enough blowing money to get to the PL and winning cups etc, this is the flip side.

That's all well and good but what if the boot was on the other foot.
Remember Portsmouth have been in a similar predicament and understand what the Blackpool supporters are going through.

It isn't though, years of spending what they haven't got Portsmouth. Good old harry Redknapp eh.

    Exactly.
When these clubs such as Bolton were splashing the cash and beating Barnsley - and subsequently Barnsley were struggling near the relegation zone because of it - then why should we have sympathy for them now?!?!?
    Let them rot.
Wouldn’t bother me if they went out of business.

Did Blackpool overspend though? I don't remember them splashing ridiculous cash on players when they went up. Stayed injury free, played to a system, and were inspired by a brilliant Charlie Adam.

Didn't they go from L2 to PL in about 5 years? I dunno exactly what they spent but they must have spent a fair bit. Sure they outbid us for Adam along the way too.

I think the whole Blackpool situation was down to oysten taking a 15/20 million dividend out of the club after pl relegation and obviously fans were less than pleased about it .

Apparently we could have signed Adam but Davey thought he wasn't worth 500k.

I don't really understand how any right-minded football fan could fail to sympathize with the Blackpool fans. Not their fault.

Not a case of overspending just a very badly run club. Feel sorry for fans as it has nothing to do with them.

Pretty sure we were supportive of their cause when we went there in Fa cup last year

Blackpool and Portsmouth are different situations. As others have said Blackpool didn't really overspend, the owner just milked all the money the club made.
Portsmouth did overspend massively as I recall.

    This.

They got to the PL mostly on merit, unlike Portsmouth, Bournemouth, Brighton etc. When they were relegated, the Oystons pocketed any money received for players, TV and such. They've also sued fans for calling them what they are, and have taken delight in running the club into the ground and watching the supporters suffer.

I'll not be there Tuesday but I'm fully with the protesting fans.

You could say that about us surely - we enjoyed that life - had players on some big money which didn't help!

Be careful with your postings, I think the convicted rapist Owen Oyston once tried to sue a messageboard for defamatory comments about him.

Unluckily for convicted rapist Owen Oyston you can't sue someone for stating true facts, such as the fact that Owen Oyston is a convicted rapist.

Is that the same convicted rapist Oyston who is the richest man in Britain to receive a prison sentence for the crime of rape?

Massive difference here for me. Blackpool were one of the only true 'fairytale' stories in recent times, gaining successive promotions without spending hardly any money whatsoever. What they has was magical and under Holloway they had just the right players at just the right time. Average players like DJ Campbell, Ormerod, Evatt, Southern etc. They were incredible and deserved to go up again the season after their relegation. Bournemouth, Brighton etc all spent big, maybe not like Wolves but they still spent big. Blackpool have suffered from issues with their owners that had little to do with over-spending.

Pompey... well that's another story. I respect how they have come back from the dead and I do like them as a club, but they had their many days in the sun and had to pay eventually. Playing Milan in Europe and having half the England team playing for them (Crouch, Defoe, James, G Johnson). They won the FA Cup and paid the likes of Sully Muntari 60-80k a week. I have no real sympathy for their plight, whilst acknowledging the fans weren't at fault.
