First ever trip to the races tomorrow with the other half and have no idea what I'm doing! I know some of you guys such as @orsenkaht like a flutter- any tips? And am i best placing my bets via an app or better on the day? Any advice much appreciated!
I've no specific fancies for you - all I can say is with smallish fields and good to firm going, it looks to me like a card where plenty of the favourites could oblige. Beyond that, Richard Fahey and Mark Johnston are the trainers to follow here. It's personal preference but I prefer to do my bets online even when going to the course. It saves you the hassle of getting on in what will be a busy betting ring and you don't need to queue for what will hopefully be plenty of winnings! Also you can get "best odds guaranteed" with most internet bookies (unless there are some that have restricted you!)
Cheers pal, much appreciated. I've printed the form guides off ATR so will have a read and then find a betting app to register with!
Take some folding with you incase you dont get a reception on your mobile blower. Im with Sky, 365, and BetFairSport, all 3 apps are easy to use, but 365 are probably the best for offers, early prices, inplay, and inplay cash out on horses, This is a decent site for information on going, race cards, and form. https://gg.co.uk/
Yes, you will be refunded for a non runner. Use oddschecker to find out which bookie is offering the best price (or extra places) on the horses you want to back. There can be huge differences.
collegian 1st (dreamseller worth keeping an eye on in the market though), hibernicus - 2nd, move in time 3rd, qassem e/w - 4th (Jamie Osborne has a knack of landing decent handicaps), dontgiveuponbob - 5th, cosmic chatter (NAP) 6th race - this one is well down in the handicap and Ruth Carr has a good record of winninig when the horse has dropped down the handicap. This is the only one she has sent and the only one the jockey rides at the track tonight.
Did you have a good night, TM? Favourites took 3 races from 6, with £35 profit to £10 stake per race. One winner each for Fahey and Johnson. Top marks to Winker for his one selection Waarif, and honourable mention to Dwrawa for Hibernicus!
I did thanks, was great! Mostly backed the Fahey horses you recommended and got Hibernicus, happy enough with that! Cheers for the tips!
I’ve been to the races quite a few times. Was at York races last Friday. I get dragged along to these events. Not my scene really. Never backed an horse in my life - and will never do so - I suppose it’s a cultural thing. Being a miner you either hated or loved horse racing. Vast majority of those that loved it were made skint by it. I hated it for that reason. Horrible.
Tis like drink, or many other pleasures YN. Overdo it and it can cause you grief. Enjoy in moderation and it can be a lifelong source of fun and entertainment. Work hard at it and it can also produce a long-term modest profit.
To add to the decent eve yest I received £40 in bet credits. Thought sod it and lumped it on Malmo to beat Orebro away and BTTS.... just cashed out with 10 mins left at £82 Malmo finished up winning but wasnt worth risking it for 14 quid. Paid for last night anyway! OGC/ "Bjorn" will no doubt be impressed
