At least most of the big guns have underperformed so far! Will make it less embarrassing if we draw or lose...

The major positive so far is that everyone looks beatable. It can only mean that there are going to be some shocks and if we can play to our very best, who knows how far we can go!

Yes. It's good expectations are low. I never really rated Southgate as a manager, but I admire his approach to the World Cup. It's down to the players now.

Spain, France, Brazil, Germany and Argentina have all underperformed. Only an unconvincing win over Australia between them.

This World Cup looks to be anybodies, even England’s?

A long way to go. A quarter final place would be an achievement this time out. A lot of the big teams start slowly. You never know, we might win on penalties one day!

If we finish second in the group, it looks like we’ll get Columbia/Poland in the last 16 followed by Mexico/Switzerland in the quarter finals (rather than Germany). We could get to the semi finals and then you never know.

Hope so. We do have some decent young players, although no one totally outstanding, or they would already be at Real Madrid or Barcelona.

Assuming both us and Belgium win our first 2 games we could both go into the last game wanting to lose to ensure an easier path to the semis. That would be interesting...

Remember Germany underperforming in their group qualifiers which included Ireleland in Japan .they got to the final that year and for the first half at least matched Brazil
