Moncur had a good start. Anonymous after his goal. We know he's better as an impact sub. Victor ok but should have scored at 1-1 clean through on keeper. Jackson a bit rusty, run out will have done him good. Izzy did nowt at all I'm afraid. Mcgheehan also rusty.
That’s how it sounded on commentary as well. Although sounded like Jackson bailed out Pinnock a couple of times. What about Walton? Sounded like a couple of good saves but naive at times, poor distribution and weak under crosses?
Seems like a wasted opportunity for Mcgheehan, Moncur, Isgrove, Jackson and shows how important Moore is, maybe small changes only in future from the starting 11. Maybe Mowatt Lyndsay Potts are a big driver in how we play, lots to learn for Stendel and hope they get back to there best on Saturday.
Cheers for that. Moncur won't be here next season whatever league we are in. Isgrove was a odd signing at the time and still looks it now. Six changes saturday I think.
Walton made a couple of good saves, but like you say distribution slow. Don't know if he should have had a free kick just prior to their 3rd when ge was penalised for carrying the ball out of the area. Thiam was completely in the clear and he chose to go the wrong way.
Moncur played well first half , Cavare had a good game , rest were below par . Shows we need to strengthen squad incase of injuries
I think Moore is probably our most important / irreplaceable player - not necessarily the best, but the most important
Agree it's not just his size and strength, but his movement across the pitch is excellent. Really occupies the defence and allows us to play further up the pitch.
I don't think Isgrove was an odd signing at the time. He had a fantastic spell on loan for us and 99 percent of fans were over the moon when he signed on a permanent. It's clearly not worked out for whatever reason but without the benefit of hindsight you couldn't have predicted it imo.
He was injury prone and had wasted a season back playing kids football, that's when he was fit enough to do so. Did well for us previously but didn't understand the clamour to bring him back. Moncur is in his third season and barely scored for an attacking player with defensive frailties, who still can't nail down a regular start. Think it's fair to say next summer we will be bringing in more than we did this summer.
Comments previously all valid, but we also started with the formation that finished the game at Bradford. Bradshaw and Victor playing as wide forwards and Moncur being allowed a central free-role. We played some good football but Blackpool still had their chances in the first half. It was this formation that meant Isgrove was an absolute passenger as right-central midfielder (for use of a better position). Second half Moncur went missing. Not only that, the effort disappeared, the movement. Proper heads gone. I can only think we left him on the whole game because he won't feature on Saturday. It seemed we went 4-4-2 second half but it wasn't an orthodox midfield four, which again meant Isgrove was wasted. If you play him, you get him to stick to the touchline and run the length of the pitch. Defence looked generally quite shaky and Pinnock actually performed poorer for being on his favoured left side which was interesting. Lots of moments of chaos in the second half which is a worry. Haven't seen the goals back on the TV but Walton could be at fault for the last two? Made some good saves from one on one situations though. Cavare had their full back on toast but of 6-8 crosses in to the box only two or three were threatening. We looked much better with Potts and Thiam on the pitch which shows how much stronger our first XI is. Might have given the signal to the board to bring in a couple of those loan players we've identified to boost squad rotation. Saying that though, I think if we were to bring three or less of the replacements in to the team in one go we'd perform much, much better.
Don't disagree with the other stuff - specifically Moncur. But the bit quoted is a complete contradiction. Nobody could have predicted the lack of impact Isgrove has had for us. It looked a brilliant signing - successful loanee comes back to play under the manager that seemed to get the best out of him. Obviously it's gone completely tits up like, but that's hindsight.
Isgrove & Moncur have been a big disappointment. Not seen enough of McGeehan. Mowatt though looks like a different player this season. Cavare looks a very good signing. was a bit hot headed last season. I think it's important we try & keep a regular side out for league games & use our subs wisely. Moncur is much better coming on for final 20 minutes. I can't remember him having a good 90 minutes in a Red shirt. McGeehan can cover for Potts or Mowatt. Just hope Dougal avoids injury / suspension, as we'll be fecked without him. Overall a little reality check in the league up may work in our favour. 3 points vs the Wombles & we will be in a very good position.
