Priti Patel discussed giving British foreign aid money to Israeli army, Downing Street confirms

Number 10 highlights that country's armed forces run field hospital for Syrian refugees in Golan Heights - where the UK does not recognise Israel's permanent presence

Why is she still in a job when she broke the Ministerial Code of Conduct it stinks. A Civil Servant lower down the hierarchy
say on an Aministration level, would face disciplinary action and even the sack if they broke the Civil Service code of conduct and this could be for something really trivial like getting caught up in brawl and being arrested.

Everyone in the current Tory government is responsible for reprehensible misery placed on the poorest & most vulnerable people in our society, whilst turning it's back on 300 billion offshore tax money in the hands of the people that support them & keep the Mail, Express, Sun, Times & Telegraph in business. Yes & our foreign policy is fecked up too, although up to now Labour have done nothing to change that. I believe Corbyn would work to address all these things.

I agree that we should stop all foreign aid money until we've bottomed the country's needs out

    ;(
That would mean we’d never give foreign aid again as this country’s needs will never be bottomed out as you put it. There simply isn’t and never has been a will to do so especially by this rotten lousy lot of a Govt.

My first reaction to this was 'Oh dear God, I wonder how long this thread will run for before the usual suspects grow weary of posting their political opinions again just in case we didn't get it the first 563 times of posting them.

But then I decided to reply.

I have to agree that Patel was wrong to do what she did, in fact she was bang out of order and has broken parliamentary protocol (as far as I am aware) however May is weak and will not sack her. In my opinion this is a sacking offence for a cabinet minister but Patel probably knows that she is, albeit temporarily, bulletproof so she is working to her own agenda with a degree of impunity.

If May wants to take any credibility from this she has to act.

There needs to be a leadership challenge but again I can't see that happening as things stand presently so this kind of unacceptable behaviour is likely to continue.

As for Israel being a fascist state well I'm still laughing at that particular assertion. The rest of the opening post I agree with to one degree or another.

The state of the Conservative Party at the moment whether you support them or not is pretty sad. They are leading the Brexit negotiations which are very difficult without agreement or any idea of what they want. The EU are eating them alive. I feel sorry for May she looks awful and like she wants to be anywhere else. For her own good and sanity she needs to either resign or be ousted. Patel is a nasty bit of work a stronger pm would have drop kicked her in a heartbeat.

I'm not so sure that the Brexit negotiations are as disastrous as some are reporting. I don't believe everything that is reported in the national press (both left and right leaning) nor do I believe everything that comes from the EU.

You're spot on about May unfortunately. I think we all know why there hasn't been a leadership challenge yet and it's absolutely nothing to do with loyalty or party unity.

In the interests of everyone in the party and indeed the country I believe that a new leader is needed. I am pretty certain that it will happen before the next election, whether they serve the full term or not, but that isn't soon enough for a lot of people. She should have gone already in my opinion.

I don't think he will be far away. He's getting better every time I see him. Personally I rate him and think he'll convince the doubters soon enough.

The last time I looked in a mirror I had a double figure, and it's not even December.

This Tory government is in a turmoil squabbling like little children among them selfs, a leader that cannot answer a question and the weakest P.M. in living memory a foreign secretary that's a laughing stock throughout the world who makes gaffe after gaffe his latest may leave a woman getting her tumped up jail sentence doubled a Defence Secretary who had to resign because of his sexual habits, a brexit secretary who as as much idea as man in moon in conducting these negotiations for Brexit and know this Priti Pattel meeting the Israel prim-minister and promising him British overseas aid money for the Israeli Army without any consent from Downing Street, one hell of an idiot, what next?.

If you see the names on the blackmail list that are currently doing the rounds, at least another 4-5 ministers could follow Fallon...
