This game from 1983 epitomises what footy should be all about. Great work rate, pace, skill, endeavour, effort and a bit of excitement too. No prima donas, no histrionics, when Banger Banks shoulder charged their defender off the ball and got off a good shot saved at the near post, there was no protest from Wolves, they just got on with it. We'll never see this type of honest football at our level again unfortunately
That was a right match. A few years before I started going, but great memories of Oakwell as it was in my childhood.
Brilliant thanks for posting. I remember it like it was yesterday yet bizarrely can’t remember what I actually did yesterday.
It probably wasn't as much fun as watching 22 mostly moustachioed footballers in very tight shorts run round a ploughed field, eventually ending in a late Barnsley victory. Curious how we played so much good football that game, yet both our goals were absolutely farcical.
Nice to see some decent footage of Derrick Parker. He looked fluid didn't he? Strange to see him without Trev at the side of him.
